FF : She'd Been a Goddess
She was a dance of winter blue, A determined flame of cold white dawn. Her eyes, once a child’s, now deepened to an ocean, A timeline of loneliness and suppression. She’d become an adult. Rigid. Watchful. All child-like desires restrained— Hidden. Seeing her this way makes my heart ache. In her youth, she’d been a goddess, An ethereal howl of biting winter wind. Never apologizing. Never holding back. Now she stands, A mere whisper choking the storm inside. I want her to scream, To let go of this tranquil heresy And call forth all the corners of her wild heart.I want her to be free.
RACER - Split SecondThe End of the Start A short fan-fiction based on the race game, "Split Second"We race car drivers are a tragic breed...After all, who in their right mind would risk death flying around in circles time and again? For a polished ornament, some champaigne and a wreath... which might've found use at my headstone? Some would say we're daring and wreckless. Others would say pathetic. I would say, "What choice do I have?" It's all I can do.I'm in fear of my life nevertheless. Maybe that's what keeps me sharp. Focused. Fear. Fear... a faithful companion, who sharpens my senses, allows me to walk the tightrope between life and death....
Perspective (Transformers Flash Fic)
PerspectiveTransformers Flash FicPrompt: Explain SomethingCharacters: Arcee, Windblade, Chromia, NauticaUniverse: IDW comic-verse (vaguely within the “Dark Cybertron” arc)Word Count: 499 :bulletred::bulletwhite::bulletred: It was not natural. That had been one of the many turbulent thoughts that had plagued Arcee since being abandoned by Jhiaxus. They were seen as a genderless race, but one source of tampering had completely changed that. Arcee had been the poor victim of circumstances—chosen on a whim, altered for the name of “science,” and subsequently left with the single-minded focus of one day finding h...
Shopping“I’m not doing it,” said Molly. “I’m going out tomorrow.”She looked for somewhere to put her brain section—away from a light-fingered detective.Sherlock looked sad. “It’ll take an hour at most. We’ll be in and out.”Molly put down the section and hesitated. “Well, just explain to me properly what it’s all about.”Sherlock grinned broadly, and pulled out some receipts.“Hugh Stone, suspected industrial spy. I got these from his bin.”“Undershaw’s? The furniture place?” Molly studied the receipts. “Why is that significant?”Sherlock tapped at the pieces of paper. “Different branches, different days of t...

Fan Fiction Has Moved! As of yesterday, Fan Fiction has a new home in the Literature gallery! :eager: Literature > Fan Fiction Before, Fan Fiction was located under Fan Art. This was due to the desire to keep all fan created works together. (:faq572:) However, this caused confusion and many fan fiction stories were miscat into the Literature gallery. By moving Fan Fiction under the Literature gallery, we're hoping to make searching for and submitting new works easier, and to cut back on the number of miscats. Here's a screenshot of the submission screen, showing Fan Fiction's new home. :) Both the Literature and Fan Fiction galleries updates are still in the...
The Triumph ProjectDr. Maya Angelou, a literary and cultural luminary, died this Wednesday. While glowing words have and will continue to be spoken about her talent, activism, and dauntless spirit, she is honored especially for her body of work. She took her own suffering and the suffering of others and, through her words, transfigured that suffering into triumphant art. Some of us in Community Relations invite you to participate in a new Project in remembrance of Dr. Angelou, one that grew out of a suggestion by :devaeirmid:. Together, we'll be creating art about triumph, be it personal, societal, or even hypothetical. At the end of the project, all devi...<da:thumb id="453760622"/>

Contests
June Fan Fiction Contest - CONTEST OVERUPDATE! Our winners! THIS CONTEST IS OVER AND (AS YOU CAN SEE ABOVE) THE WINNERS WERE CHOSEN AWHILE AGO. Welcome back! This month's contest theme may be a bit of a challenge: write a fan fiction from a second person point of view! For clarification, in second person point of view (POV) the narration is told through the reader's perspective, using the personal pronoun, "you." Most stories are told from first person (where the narrator is telling their own story, using the pronouns "I" and "me") or third person (the narrator observes the characters, and refers to them as "he/she/them/etc.") person points of view. Second person point of ...
CLOSED!! --- BELIEVE - A CHARACTER CONTEST*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* Create your best art for the wonderful TV Show BELIEVE (Sundays at 9/8c. on NBC) and enter the contest to win some pretty neat prizes. BELIEVE centers on Bo Adams, a 10-year-old born into this organization called Orchestra, where they study her abilities and push her to better control them… by any means necessary. Unknowingly to most employees, if not all, she’s just there to be trained as a weapon. A federal asset, actually. But Bo is a very special little girl, and with the help of a few Orchestra employees and what’s been like a father figure to her, she runs away from th...
Discuss!
Last month, I asked, "You're on a deserted island with one person, any author of your choice. Who would you choose and what would you discuss? Assume you have enough supplies to stay comfortable for as long as needed (so you don't need to worry about picking a survivalist author or anything like that). The author can write anything; books, movies, TV shows, video games, etc.." Here are your replies:
- DecepticonFlamewar says, "I would pick Nicole Dubuc of Transformers Rescue Bots and just shoot the breeze about all the little characters at Griffin Rock. And I would probably hope that she would pull some strings and get me hired at work at Rescue Bots, but I'd need to write some more "episode-style" bots fic before that would have a chance in heck of working. Still, even if I didn't get to run the asylum, the chance to talk about Luskey's backstory and Evan and Myles' homelife would totally be worth it."
- iammemyself says, "MasterPassionCreed because she is not only an incredible writer, she's also super nice and we get along well. We would probably talk about Portal but we could talk about pretty much anything."
- As for me: "There are so many to choose from. After much soul searching, I decided to abscond with George R. R. Martin and force him, er, ask him politely to share his plotting and detailing techniques. I may hate the guy for killing off so many characters I love, but dang, the man can write."
New discussion topic!
What would you like to see happen in/for deviantART's Fan Fiction gallery and community?
Have any news, groups or contests you want me to feature? Comment below and I'll include it next month!
