To keep myself motivated, I think I'll post an update once a month for the rest of the year. As you may know, I've been working very hard to lose weight and get healthier lately. I personally find dieting to be more difficult than exercising, but I'm aware that can be different for everyone. I have family, friends, and coworkers that are also struggling with weight loss, so I'm doing my best to be an inspiration (not something I'm used to being.)
Anyhow, I agreed to take some family portraits yesterday and I was able to fit into "Large" clothes (as opposed to XL, XXL, and XXXL that I've been wearing for the past several years) so that was pretty cool.
Here's my weight progress so far for this year. I only weigh myself once a month on the 8th (May 8th was my initial doctors appointment that motivated me to get healthy):
Jan. - 285 lbs. [Began new years resolution]
Feb. - 283 lbs. (approx.) Didn't weigh myself this month.
Mar. - 280 lbs. (approx.) Didn't weigh myself this month.
Apr. - 278 lbs. (approx.) Didn't weigh myself this month.
May - 275 lbs. [Had doctor appointment that made me start dieting too, instead of just exercising]
Jun. - 264 lbs.
Jul. - 254 lbs.
I'm averaging about 10 lbs a month since May, but I know that momentum is going to slow down soon. I've mainly been avoiding high carb foods and sweets. I walk and/or run every day, with 10,000 steps being my daily goal.
I'm still struggling with some exercises. I don't have much upper body strength right now and still can't complete a full pull-up, but I'm working on it.
Thanks a bunch to you guys who've been very supportive. If you're a member of Fitbit or MapMyFitness, let me know so I can add you to my friends.
Take care, guys!
