[Tutorial] Installing Content in DAZ StudioThe purpose of this tutorial is to provide a reference for those new to DAZ Studio and just learning to install products without the DAZ Install Manager for the first time. Please feel free to link to it!This comes up frequently on the forum and in my private messages. Usually what happens is that I get a message to the effect of "Hi! I bought a product from Renderosity/downloaded a freebie from ShareCG, and now I get a "missing file" error when I try to use it."It is always possible for errors in packaging to happen, and in that case of course we want to fix it on the vendor end, but most of the time this happens because the product is not installed correctly. Let's start out by suggesting some good practices for organizing your folders.1. Directory And File Management (IMPORTANT!)I suggest having a separate directory set up in your DS for each vendor (DAZ, Renderosity, Freebies, etc.) so you can always tell what you got where and how it is l
Morph Transfer Options Added to DS 462That's DAZ Studio 4.6.2, the latest version as of this writing. If you transfer morphs with Transfer Utility, you might previously have noticed that you have no option to only transfer SOME morphs. This can particularly be annoying with Genesis morphs, where you end up transferring hundreds and then have to sort out and save to library just the one you want.Well, the newest version of DAZ Studio has an additional feature to help with this.In the Parameters tab, when you've found the dial for a particular morph, right-click on it. One of your options is "Favorites." Hover over that and you can choose "Add Selected Properties to Favorites."On most items, all morphs are not favorited by default, including Genesis. Mark just the morph or morphs you want to transfer as favorites in the manner described. Now when you start Transfer Utility, uncheck everything but the "Morph Targets" option. You need to have the "Show Options" button checked to expand that par
Using Your Content With G3F UPDATEDSo, it looks like it's time for some reminders and updates on the conversion processes and where we stand.Right now you just can't use V4, G1 or G2 skins on G3F. I don't know if this will change. Given the new UV and material setup, probably not. People on the forum have been using a lengthy workaround involving converting the actual textures. I can't say that I recommend that, but feel free to try it.Expressions will not transfer in either direction. G2F's face is animated with morphs, whereas G3F's is animated using a full bone rig; they're just not compatible setting types. You can see G3F's facial bone rig by using the "show hidden nodes" option in the scene tab, but don't do it unless you really need to; there are many, many small bones there. My brief experimentation with morph transfer did not give good results in the eye area or with JCM transfer. You can convert V4 and G1 clothes to G3 using
