I guess it is still in preproduction phase, fingers crossed for coming true :fingerscrossed:

Update - here is the first video blog from the creators:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x150…

Update 11 XII 2013 - there will be no Storm over Gondolin, unfortunately The Tolkien Estate has forbidden making it - message form the filmmakers published at the projects fanpage at Facebook:

Dear fans,
We come to you today with some sad news. The Tolkien Estate, the legal body which manages the rights to Tolkien’s works, has asked us to immediately cease working on the movie Storm over Gondolin. Like you, we are extremely disappointed to have to stop the production of a movie inspired by Tolkien’s legendarium. However, the entire team is staying on board and we are more excited than ever by the opportunity to create a new world inspired by the ancient mythologies. Much of our work still stands, and we are therefore announcing the production of a new fantasy film where you will find elves and orcs in an original universe. Thank you for your support and your fidelity ; a new step in our journey is beginning, and it is for you that we are taking it!

:film: Born of Hope is latest LotR inspired movie made by JRRT fans.

News at Facebook www.facebook.com/Ancanar
:bulletpurple: There is also Arrival at Esgaroth, to me seems to be more distant from Arda given a Warcraft-like elf appearing there:
HQ www.rainfallfilms.com/projects… & www.ralphlister.com/video/v_es… + main site www.rainfallfilms.com/projects…
:bulletpurple: Finally it looks like  The Silmarillion Film Project www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0bMYk… is still active silmfilm.proboards25.com/

Have you seen those? What do you think of them?

I'm especially awaiting Ancanar, the story is not directly from Arda, but I feel it will have the mood and mystery of The Silmarillion. I still need to see Born of Hope and The Hunt for Gollum, unfortunately my PC doesn't want to display HD movies easily.

Firiel inspired me to make my own test, but it'll be a long road till I can call it a movie: sirielle.deviantart.com/art/Lo… :meditation:

Do you know Tolkien's world pretty well? Would you give your knowledge a try?

There is this Tolkien Mailing Competition that gives you the chance. It is easy, in certain aspects, but demands a lot of your inner lore-master, and it is really, really fun.

Roots

It happened 8 years ago, that Hungarian Tolkien Society started a competition for schoolchildren, aged 10 to 18. They competed in groups of 3 or 4, in three different categories, that needed different level of knowledge on Tolkien's works. It had five rounds by e-mails and a live final, and had great success. The boys and the girls who once competed in it, came back next year, joined in to our society, discovered that they are not "that moron with that Tolkien itch" but part of a greater community. They wanted to continue the comperition, even after they'd grown elder.

For students, it was harder to organize their group, therefore we started a new category for individual participants, and since several competitor had access to HoME and other works that wasn't available in Hungarian, we started it in English.

Also, as we met members of other Tolkien Societies, they liked the idea of the competition, and wanted to try it, even to localize it to their own societies. These facts led us to start an international category named Quendi, and call every friends worldwide.

TLV for Quendi

The Tolkien Mailing Competition, or TLV, as we abbreviate it after its Hungarian name, is open now for individual competitors all over the world (and beyond). It is primarily for people between 18 and 35, or "youngs-at-heart", but this only shows a certain style. It is more important that due to resource shortages we had to limit the number of participants to 60 people.
The competition will have five rounds by e-mails, in English language. You'll have at least four weeks for each turns, a bit more for special seasons. You won't need University level fluency, but you'll have to understand Tolkien in English and be able to write an understandable essay, for instance. There is no registration fee or other charges (beyond your own internet costs), but this means no live finals. But we will publicly announce the winners on every forums that we and our co-operating fellow Sociteies access, so, the fame is yours.

Please check out the TLV article (in English) on our official site where you will find application form (link at the bottom) and all details.

Important change: application deadline changed from 29th September to 6th October!

Hello everyone!

Update. There are two Nyáremairë folders ATM: Nyáremairë for fan fiction art  and Nyáremairë II for graphic novels.
Art submission guidelines will be updated when we finish moving pieces, but from now on please add all non-humorous graphic novels to their own folder

As some of you noticed I've moved all the non-humorous comics stripes and graphic novels to the Nyáremairë folders (Nyáremairë & Nyáremairë II), which right now are a places for art inspired by fan fiction and art being of alter universe itself.

Chibi art, humorous stripes and illustrations still go to the Alasse folder, nothing has changed.

Question of dolls from doll generators. We've discussed it recently and decided to accept no dolls made with generators into the gallery. Unless one of you has created a Silmarillion related doll generator itself and wanted to add it to the club the generator itself would be welcomed. For all other cases I've made a folder in our Favourites section silmarillion-club.deviantart.c… where I'll move all the dolls found in our gallery right now and I encourage you to share there your's. I'm sorry for moving the present dolls from the Gallery to the Favorites, but that's the only way to be fair with all generated doll creators.

Finally I've added English names/explanation to the gallery folders to make the submission process easier. If you wonder all the original folder names are in Quneya, translated or constructed by Alqualaure in the past and Breogan at the preset :thanks: Names Ainulindalë ar Valaquenta and Quenta Silmarillion are almost literally taken from The Silmarillion, thus I left them without an English equivalent.

As always please read our Art submission guidelines silmarillion-club.deviantart.c… before submitting art. If something isn't clear ask about it

Greetings!
Sirielle
Welcome to the Quenta Silmarillion, sit yourself down by the fire and hear the stories of old.

The Silmarillion-Club is a group on deviantART centred around the early events from the world created by J. R. R. Tolkien: from the beginning of time up to the ending of the II Age of Sun, described in The Silmarillion, The Unfinished Tales, The Children of Hurin and The History of Middle-Earth.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

We welcome art inspired by the early events from the world created by J. R. R. Tolkien: starting from the Music of the Ainur up to the end of the Second Age of Sun, as described in The Silmarillion, The Unfinished Tales, The Children of Húrin and The History of Middle-Earth.
This means we WILL NOT accept any artwork related to the Third Age of the Sun, The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, be it based on the BOOKS, FILMS or GAMES (with the exception of characters from previous ages appearing later in time but in a manner unrelated to The Hobbit and LotR)

:bulletred: All artwork will be taken under consideration to be accepted, based on effort and artistic merits. It is the right of the admin team to determine what is accepted and what is not.

:bulletred: Copyrights and credits:

Submitted artwork must be created by the artist and must not violate copyrights. Deviations must be original creations, meaning copies of existing artworks or movie inspired art/concept art, will NOT be accepted (Exception: creative, artistic reinterpretations of the works of others, as long as the original artist is credited.)
When using stock photos, the artist must credit the stock owner and must have permission to use their work.

FAQ #157: Can I use things created by other people in my submissions?
FAQ #306: Does "Crediting" let me use whatever I want?
FAQ #193: How do I prove that I had permission to use someone's work?

:bulletred: Submit only finished, well presented works.

We will not accept any quick doodles, unfinished sketches, works on lined paper, dirty scans, poor-quality photos, etc. in the club's main Gallery. Remember, it is in your best interest to present your artwork so that it will appeal to people.
However, you can still submit your sketches to the Sketchbook folder in the Favourites gallery.

We do not accept any SLASH or GENDER-BENDER content due to Canon-Compliance limitations. There are other Middle-earth-related groups here in dA that will accept that content and add it to their galleries.

If your submission is declined, please accept that - it probably doesn't fulfill the standards we are trying to keep up. We see what you can do, and we are trying to show only the best of your, as a unique artist’s, work.
In other words, submit only works you are proud of.

:bulletred: We accept work in any media or style (traditional or digital, calligraphy and literature, manga, photomanipulation, etc.). Even if you have, for example, a sculpture of Gondolin carved in pineapple, we will accept it quite happily, as it will be something very interesting to see.

:bulletred:  There is a submission limit for cosplay photographs, please read details here silmarillion-club.deviantart.c…

:bulletred: Please make sure you submit deviations to the correct folder.

:bulletgreen: The Gallery is divided into 8 main folders:
- Ainulindale ar Valaquenta - Music of the Ainur and the Story of the Valar (for general depictions of the Ainur - Valar & Maiar. Deviations depicting specific scenes/moments related to the Ainur, belong in the Quenta Silmarillion and Quentar Attea Rando folders)
- Quenta Silmarillion - the Story of the Silmarils
- Quentar Attea Rando - the stories of the Second Age
- Exar - Miscellaneous
- Nyáremairë - art inspired by fan fiction, AU and Graphic Novels
- Sarme - Calligraphy and Typography
- Alasse - Humour
- Curwi - Artisan Crafts
- Larma-tyalië - Costumes and Cosplay
- Parma - fanfiction texts and essays
- Tanwar - Heraldry, Maps and Family Trees

- The Featured folder is for admin-use only, and it's intended to display the best works chosen by the admin team.

:bulletgreen: There is also a Favourites gallery with 3 different folders:
- Featured - admin-use only for the display of works by artists long absent from dA.
- Sketchbook - for members to share their quick sketches, doodles, etc.
- Silmarillion-related Memes
- Dolls - a folder for dolls made with doll generators

:bulletred: Fanon vs. canon - consider source text information before you submit artwork with fair-haired Fingolfin, Maedhros chained to Thangorodrim with all his arms and legs, etc. Please bear in mind that some works might be rejected if we find them confusing to other fans, unless you have a good reason why you were unfaithful to the description.

:bulletred: The admin team reserves the right to change any of these rules at any given time.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

Additional information:

:bulletblue: Club members have the right to invite to the club the works of others, including the works of non-members, as long as the artwork in question complies with our art guidelines. Such submissions go through the standard voting process and if accepted, a gallery invitation will be extended to the original artist to accept or decline it. If the admin team declines such submission, the artist will not receive an invitation. Please, remember to choose those submissions carefully.

:bulletblue: Members of our affiliates are allowed to submit deviations, too.

:bulletblue: Some general technical advice:
:bulletwhite: During voting process avoid multiplied submissions of the same deviation. Check in your Message Centre if the deviation has been submitted and what is it's voting status, refresh page if necessary.
:bulletwhite: During voting if you want to change a gallery folder or have changed your mind about the submission you can withdraw it from the club to re-submit again/later. Withdrawal option is in your Message Centre together with the voting status.
:bulletwhite: To remove a deviation already accepted to a club go to "edit deviation" and remove selected club's name from a list.
