Have you ever messed around with a tele-extender? I've been thinking about getting one but I've heard some mixed things about them. And you're so experienced with cameras, I wondered if you've used one.
Tele-extenders are best suited for L series lenses (for Canon, not sure about Nikon lenses) so I don't use one simply because I don't own an L series lens yet. But in the future I'd like to get Canon's 70-200mm www.amazon.com/Canon-70-200mm-… and get the 1.5 extender, for birding. I'll probably be around 40 when I get it though
Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about getting one lately. I've started taking a lot more pictures of wild hawks and eagles and while I love my 400mm, sometimes it'd be nice to have a little more reach (and I don't think I'll be spending $12,000 on a 800mm anytime soon ).
You're blessed to have a 400mm If you have a crop sensor that is essentially a 560mm! (It would certainly be that on my 70D.) Yes 800mm are ridiculous you might need to sell a kidney or lung to get it.
