Sarin and Barbosa

Heyl / Heyl

Barbosa

A new land, a new life, a new thing to get screwed up. A dark furred creature moved along a row of thick brambles, ducking in and out of the dry plants. Barbosa moved out of her hideaway, looking around the area of the main den. She was not a very big fan of all the wolves that swarmed it, but she enjoyed silently observing them, taking in their behaviors.

Her gaze shifted around the site but nothing really caught her eye. Maybe she could go find a pond or something to splash in.  She didn’t know which way would be the best way to go, but to her it didn’t really matter. Anywhere was better than around strangers. Sure she could hang out with her caretakers but what fun would that be?

Barbosa stopped moving and closed her eyes. She tried to imagine what her life looked like previously, what it might have been like if she was still there. A surge of flashing images struck her mind leaving her blank for direction. Lowly she grunted to herself and looked to the ground.

There laying on the ground was a locust. “Well at least you’re not one of those really long things.” She looks at the insect with perked ears as she watched it shift before leaping away from her sight into some brambles.

Sarin

The news had travelled fast: A newcomer to Heyl didn’t go unnoticed, not even among the younger generation. It was the fact that the newcomer was a pup though, that particularly sparked Sarin’s interest. He had to check this stranger out first hand! Of course no one was gonna know his true intentions, but well… maybe this one time he’d get the chance to win someone over before Leo did.

Small paws hurried through undergrowth surrounding the heylian densite, until eventually he picked up the scent of a new pup. A smile graced his sharp features when he approached the smaller female. He was almost a juvenile after all, so his body was a little further developed than hers.

“Long things?” he voiced, putting on a grin. For just a second his eyes had followed the locust, but swiftly found their way back into the newcomer’s face. “What are you doing here? Chasing insects?” The way he said it had something arrogant, almost as if chasing locusts was beneath his dignity. His smile on the other hand was surprisingly warm and welcoming.

Barbosa

Barbosa’s paws pushed and kneaded into the earth, almost like a cat. Just as the locust has hopped away did a voice cure her boredom almost instantly. She turned around a bit surprised with a prickled spine. Realizing quickly that it was a pup. She heard very few things about the pack as she stayed in her den most of the time with her caretakers. And he had met and befriended one earlier. Perhaps this was one of his brothers. This one was clearly older than she was, same age as Orion. It had to be his brother.

Barbosa took a second to recall his features and put them in her mind. “No. I’m hunting for snipes.” She barked with a sharp tongue but a smile that was mimicking the males. Her sarcasm could lace over her honesty any day. She laughed a bit looking to where it had gone. “I was simply thanking it that it was not… a centipede.” The mere word sent shivers down her spine as she stuck out her tongue.

The blackberry gaze turned to the male once again as she shifted to face him more directly. Her eyes narrowed as she seemed to bare questions on her small little mind. As she leaned back she extended her paw. “Care to know?” She laughed bring her paw back to her chest. “Barbosa.” At Last she introduced herself.

The girl’s explanation instantly caused Sarin to feel drawn to her. Her cheeky reply held sarcasm and her grin was just as rebellious as his own, which broadened into showing his little white teeth. “Snipes, eh?” He laughed with her for just one second, before they both looked after the locust once again. “What’s wrong with centipedes?” he then questioned, his voice truly confused. He was way too great to fear something as trivial as insects! And everyone should know that. “Did you know centipedes are healthy to eat when you feel sick?”

He couldn’t help but laugh at the face she made while mentioning these long, multi legged critters. Overall he appeared in a terrifyingly good mood today - maybe making friend really did comfort him in ways he would never admit.

“Barbosa.. That’s an odd name. Where do you come from? I’m Sarin by the way!” he then returned her introduction.

Barbosa wrinkled her nose. Yeah, she wasn’t about to go around eating centipedes. He was probably joking with her. She liked insects but something about the centipede rubbed her the wrong way. Suppose one irrational fear again. Not that she was actually afraid. Maybe just squeamish. “I find the excess of legs to be… Peculiar. I like bugs, but they seem a little bit shifty.”

She listened to the male as she looked up at him with sharp eyes. She shrugged her shoulders. Odd maybe. It was better than nothing. Barbosa was sure she had a name at the start, but just didn’t quite remember it. She shrugged her shoulders. “Wish I knew. Then I could tell you, Sarin.” She explained with a funny smile. Erm… She looked away trying to figure out a sense of direction now. But she didn’t know where anything was or any sort of ground lay. But at least she knew how to get back to her tree. She looked back up to Sarin and shrugged. “I.. Don’t know where I’m going.”

Sarin

Barbosa’s explanations just became more weird as she went on. Then again she was still young - even younger than him and his siblings - and new to the pack, maybe she would just have to settle in order to become more like the other Heylians. For just one second Sarin caught himself wondering if that really was desirable or not. “You don’t know where you came from?” he asked, utterly unaware of the fact his words might be hurtful to the younger pup. And even if he was aware, maybe he would have asked anyway.

“Well…” he began, now talking in a tone similar to the encouraging one he’d use when talking to Orion. “...for now you have arrived here. No need to be going anywhere until you feel like it.” His increasingly brotherly face hid the satisfaction he experienced through being a superior for once. Being older, stronger and wiser felt great - if only he would be able to prove to everyone just how good he really was. “How about I show you where to find some interesting critters. I know some spectacular spots around the caves.”

Barbosa

The male seemed to hold something in himself that Barbosa could not really identify with. She didn’t understand it but it didn’t seem to bother her too much. She looked him over and wrinkled her nose. “That is what I said.” She put bluntly rolling her tongue. But she let it go over her shoulders and shook her head. She didn’t hold any malice behind it or any intent to be a grump, she just claimed the obvious. Her tail began to sway with a happy rhythm as she leaned forward, sniffing the air.

She tempted telling her caretakers on where she was going. Crow and Ri Chu were great, only sometimes... when they weren’t around. She shrugged and looked back to Sarin. “Okay… Thanks.” She tempted herself to say no, Crow had tried to teach her to be cautious, yeah that didn’t work very well. But Sarin didn’t seem too bad. He seemed nice enough and he was a member of Heyl, Heyl in and of itself felt safe. Boring. But safe. Sarin seemed confident in his abilities and certainly talked to her with a pleasant timbre. She felt comfortable with going along with him.
