365 Photo Project. Day 30...COMPLETE!

First attempt at a levitation manipulation...not 100% pleased with it, but I think for the first time at trying at, it's pretty good. :) Taken with my Canon XTi.

Brilliant job! As with all the great you have created an illustration here! A story frozen in time! Amazing! there is motion with things moving an inch! Your model sells the image. Very expressive and classically beautiful.

Just an update, I have a mini tutorial about this photo in the march 2012 issue of practical photoshop magazine, in case you're interested. :) The issue has a lot on layer masks, etc.

This is a photo-manipulation?
Reply
:iconsilentparade284:

All that was done was the blending of several images. So in that case, it is. Otherwise, it's a self portrait of myself and I consider it to be much more so that than a manipulation. All I did was use the eraser tool and color correction. Nothing was added or drawn in, like most manipulations have done to them.

Oh. But, how did you...float in air? Or was there something under you that you erased later on?

I was sitting in two chairs against my kitchen wall (not in the shot) I matched the lighting and placed myself into the shot of my kitchen over, counter, etc. using layer masks. I have a more detailed tutorial in issue 10 of practical photoshop magazine the march 2012 issue.

Thank you so much. I've worked with photoshop for about 7 years now, so giving a glance at other levitation photos I was able to see how it was done easily and from there made this. :)

Wow. That's pretty awesome. Wish I had that much photoshop experience. I guess that's the best way to learn, by looking at other examples. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on you. ^^

Magic. ;)
Haha, photoshop. Look up tutorials on levitation photos. They have ones for simple levitation photos and if you're familiar with photoshop you should be able to figure out ways to do more complicated editing to get similar effects. :D (Been a user of PS for 7 years now, so looking at a basic how to was all I needed and from there did my own edits and effects to make a more intricate photo.

damn thats a great photomanipulation, I just can't see any default, it look real. did you made all the pictures, I mean of you, the cooking stuff... with the same lighting then cut out all around to put it in the scene, to make them levitate, well it seem the me thats how to do it, but if is something else I could use some advice!
Ive done this in my last photomanipulation but the result is not as stunning. so well done ;)
hehe

I took the photo of myself on a completely different wall and then edited myself with a layer mask. The objects I took where they are in the photo and erased my hands out of the shot. Editing myself was fun, but a challenge considering that the lighting was vastly different... Here's the original shot of me, lol.

okay ! that was I think, I do the same as my picture, here it is by the way and tell me what you think ;) [link]
I didn't have much time because it was a contest, so I could have done better, I took the model while she was on the floor, then I turn her, then put shadows and light.. but seriously you've done a great job editing and put lighting on yourself, you really look as you are in the same place! :)
