I know I'm late, but happy new year! Hope 2019 has been treating you guys well so far. This year has started off very busy for me! I've been really sick since about December 27 and am only starting to feel better this weekend (horrible coughing that's been keeping me up all night, and then on no sleep, I have to go into work like a corpse. T_T). There's talk that I may be moving into a supervising role later in the year, possibly spring, so I'm currently in-training for that right now! Nothing is official until I have a contract in my hands, but I am excited and incredibly nervous at the same time.
Also, I really want to put online games aside this year because my addiction to them is quite bad. I think between Overwatch and WoW, they've consumed a good two years of my life? So I need a break and to focus on being productive this year. I really, really want to make a lot of quality art. Although, I think Kingdom Hearts will take up a lot of my time this year once my limited edition Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4 Pro gets to me (it's going to my home city and then my parents have to find time to drive it out to me, so who knows when that will be... I'm just excited to be getting it since they were so rare!). But artwise, maybe I'll get some new ref sheets done. Ahaha. MAN my characters have been so neglected. Working on those Huevember drawings was a big wake-up call. So this year will be a productive year and the year I make sure any owed art gets outta the way (I know I've got at least one drawing that's been pending for an excessive amount of time. Truly sorry! ;o
2018 was somehow so ridiculously long?! Like, I can't believe Black Panther and the winter Olympics happened that year? Feels so, so long ago. Maybe it felt so long and stressful because Canadians especially had to worry about anything that horrible orange man down south of us did. But there were good parts! Like, I got to go to Denmark! That was AMAZING seeing castles and going to another continent and being immersed in a completely different culture. Strong but wonderful food, super polite people, and so much to see! We walked something like 20km every single day - we had no legs left at the end of each day. And then I finally invested in a Cintiq?! OH MAN. That's gonna be my main motivator for art this year, once my parents are able to drive it out to me. Had a great time finally playing WoW for a number of months, which was fun while it lasted. Also did a couple of one-day conventions which were fun. Also reconnected with an old online social group of mine, so I've been surrounded by great friends. That was hugely inspirational for me to want to push me to draw more. Started also getting back into watching anime (just caught up on My Hero Academia) and have many more shows I want to watch. And... yeah! So not sure if 2018 was a specifically good or bad year, but it had its moments, for sure!My goals for 2019 are:
- Go home from work on time
- Finish 2017/2018 WIPs
- Draw more for myself
- Draw more lighting-focused art!
- Read more than last year
- Keep on top of cleaning
- Fix sleeping schedule
- Take care of health
- Play console games again
- Get Silberry.ca
Gonna do my best to do all those things and be more active here!
Expenses also have been adding up quite signifcantly on my end, so to counter that, I'm thinking about opening commissions maybe in about a month or two. Maybe a couple slots for regular commissions - we'll see! Just wanted to put the heads up in case anyone might be interested to save up. I'll try to get out a new commission price point sheet soon!
Welcome to the new year! Let's hope it's a good one.
