30,000 Kiriban

I have been kind of absent for a while, but I'm still alive :). And I can still draw. Really.

Since we're nearing pageview number 30,000, I'm offering a gift picture (scan) to the 30,000th viewer of my dA homepage.

The rules:

Prove that you are the Chosen One by providing me with a screenshot of your lucky number 30,000.
If number 30,000 doesn't claim their picture, the viewer closest to them gets to claim one. Just leave me a message somewhere on my page, or send me an e-mail at severelysigune at yahoo dot co dot uk.

I'll do my best and draw a subject of your choice, provided I think I can handle it.
I don't draw subjects of a so-called 'adult nature' - I don't go any further than PG-13. Also, NO nekkid Snape. Not ever.

Good luck! :D

I haven't been at dA for a while, so I discovered this only now. Already 30,000, that's amazing! *is really impressed* But no wonder with such outstanding art! :o)
I suppose that someone already came very close or hit the Kiriban, but just in case, I got the 30,012th pageview.

By the way, why is it called "Kiriban"?

I looked it up a few days ago, out of curiosity. Apparently it's a Japanese word for a round number or a milestone. I have no idea how it came to be used here; I just saw other people doing "kiribans" and figured it was some kind of tradition :).

Yep, the drawing has been claimed by a deviant who hit number 30,000. (Personally I've never hit a kiriban in my life...)

Thanks for the compliment :D! 30,000 is nice, but it's hardly spectacular. There are artists at dA who have been around for roughly as long as I have, and they've amassed more than a million page views now. But then I guess they are much better artists :). Me, I only made it to 30,000 because there is some Snape in my gallery. Most people wouldn't look in if it were just my own stuff.

Thanks for the explanation!

Well, I suppose it's the same with pageviews as it is with fanfiction reviews: the quantity is no measurement of quality. So I'm certain that having so many pageviews means that someone is necessarily a better artist. They might simply have more fans looking online or using dA, or do more mainstream art, or belong to an art form that is much more sought after, looked up than yours is. And then, some things simply are more eye-catching than others, even if they are of simliar artistic quality!

Eh - dA ate my reply!

I was trying to say that there will certainly be another occasion for this ... unusual ... piece of art ;).
