Download Question for Watchers

Tue Jan 15, 2013, 2:14 PM
Dear watchers,

When I post fan art, I leave the "Download" option checked. I see that some people do take advantage of that and download my pictures. So my question is:

What do you do with fanart you have downloaded?

Are you on the lookout for that download button - that is, does it bother you when I uncheck it?

...Just curiosity on my part. Thanks in advance for your replies! :D

The internet can be a fickle place, so when I like something, I save it to my computer so that I can always find it, even if the artist removes it or the source website goes down. I like to browse through my art collection for fun and inspiration, and take a lot of compulsive satisfaction in organizing it.

I just save it to my hard drive to use as screen savers and make me smile. :)

I also allow downloads. I guess if a person really wanted to steal a piece they could use the screenprint function, even if the download button was disabled, unless you make the original posting so small that screenprint isn't worth their while, but that would make it miserable for everyone to see and enjoy. So seeing that screenprint already allows someone to put a posting on their hard drive, I really don't fuss about the download and leave the option open.

Well, I think people just want to save your artwork on their hard drives :) I personally store some of fan arts I like, just in case they disappear from the Internet. Would never have an idea to post it without asking the artist first, but I can't answer for everyone.

When I upload something I always leave the option download checked as well. Guess there is no difference in my case, because usually the full version of the picture is the same size as the one for download (okay, there was one exception with a character sheet).
