Description
Doolysaurus huhmini is a small, bipedal thescelosaurid dinosaur that lived in what is now South Korea about 113–94 million years ago during the mid‑Cretaceous. Its fossils were discovered in 2023 in the Ilseongsan Formation on Aphae Island by researcher Hyemin Jo and include parts of the skull, vertebrae, and limbs, which is rare for Korean dinosaur finds. In 2026, paleontologist Jongyun Jung and colleagues formally named the species, with the genus name honoring “Dooly,” a beloved Korean cartoon dinosaur, and the species name “huhmini” paying tribute to paleontologist Min Huh for his decades of contributions to Korean dinosaur research. The discovery fills an important gap in Asia’s dinosaur record and gives scientists new insight into these small plant‑eating dinosaurs.
