My first animation using the Source Filmmaker. I actually already did a few images (or posters) with it, one that I use as FB profile pic and some forums avatar, and one which I don't know if continuing it or just leaving it there, since I don't know what to do with it.
Back to this, I wanted to do something, then I had this idea, inspired also from the League Of Legends Jinx GIF they used in the log-in menu.
I edited the desert map downloaded from sfmbox (I kinda miss that website..) with the Hammer Editor and added the trees as models in the SFM so I could put them where I needed without re-compiling the map every time.
I used lots of volumetrics to do the foggy effect, and the particle system called stormfront for the snow effect (it also includes the "moving fog" effect). It took me about 2 hours just animating all, I think. With Hammer and converting it to GIF, probably 3 hours.
As a first animation, I'm really happy how it turned out.
where are these particle effects located? never seen them before looking for an desert dust effect I wonder if this one would work looks great ^^
They're called env_snow_stormfront but I have no idea where I got them from. Probably team fortress 2 particles since it basically was the only game content I had when I started with sfm. tf2 default content and ponies was all I had, so you should look there
wow Really nice !
Your welcome! ^^ Great job on the GIF, especially being your first.
