Thank you very much to our two contestants for entering our competition!

After carefully reviewing each piece I have come to a decision on which is our winner.

THE WINNER IS!!!! *Drum Roll*

In second place we have!!!! *Drum Roll*

I will inbox both of my winners in regards to what they wish to be their prize.

Here are the reviews for both films.

Correct use of conventions of style:
As a sad drama, the use of basic shots has been effectively used, but in a more professorial way with the use of slow panning and beautiful focusing.

Use of shots:
Beautiful use of shots, effective use of focusing and panning. The use of cutting in the scene where he becomes disappointed effectively portrays passing time and creates a greater sense of disappointed.

Use of sound and music:
The use of music is very effective, it being quite enough not to be noticed, yet enough to let the audience engage with the situation more. Music effectively quietens when talking begins. Talking is a little quite as I have all the sound up to max and Im still having a little trouble hearing the speech.

General idea/story line:
A beautiful story line! The use of everyday things in the house combined with fancy words from a book when he makes his time machine is very effective in creating a reality that his time machine will work. It gives the viewers hope that his time machine will work.

Emotional response:
This movie creates great emotional response for the viewer, with the last scene being the most emotional. The use of using the toy to take back in time the message from his future self shows a deeper sacrifice for his sister and really sets in the idea that even though we cant save the ones we love, the least we can do is make them happy and have no regrets.

The boy actor did a very good job at portraying his sadness, though if done again, a little more exaggeration, especially in the laying in bed scene with sadness may have been a little more effective.

Other factors: The toy sequences are very effective to show the childish side of the boy. They are also a great way to break between the action.

Correct use of conventions of style: Use of shots for this style is effective, sound and music for this style is lacking.

Use of shots:
Great use of various shots, some of them are a little awkward, like point of view shots when walking into the shop. Flashing lights for attack in bathroom very effective to create mystery of the monster yet give the audience an idea what is happening.

Use of sound and music:
Very quite and hard to hear with talking. No background music. No music to create suspense.

General idea/story line:
Hard to understand at some points and confusing.

Emotional response:
No emotional response. Fail to build up suspense. If suspense was trying to be built then it is lost in the quietness of the talking. Use of violins could have helped to build up suspense.

Other factors:
Great portrail of action. Good use of colour overlay to depict the monster.
