A late entry into the Galactic Republic Navy, fielded mere weeks prior to the climatic Battle of Endor, the Nebulon-D escort frigate is an improvement over earlier vessels in KDY's Nebulon line, boasting additional armor, hull reinforcement to protect previously-exposed elements of the vessel's superstructure, and adding the latest long-range turbolaser batteries to bolster its anti-capital ship arsenal. Additionally, it possesses three umbilical ports in its center structure to permit rapid resupply/disembarking during extended combat operations. As part of the Father and Son of the Suns infinities setting.

Looks like a much tougher hull than the 'B! Not the kind of frigate you'd want to mess with...

I could never see the original Nebulon-B as something that was KDY-produced; to me the style just didn't fit in. This one however, looks to be a much better fit - and of course sufficiently armored for its intended role. The reinforced "neck" is a vast improvement. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=":D (Big Grin)"/> Are those reinforced docking collars I see, too?

I would suggest a couple things: Firstly a few visible windows here and there would help to "sell" the scale of the ship - otherwise, without the fighters present its bulkiness makes it appear smaller than it really is... Second, the outlines of the hull plating would be better if they weren't so heavy (again, for scaling).

Great update on the old frigate design!

I’m designing my own Nebulon-D frigate for a comic. I have a page for it on SW fanon and was wondering if I could use your design or if you could give me some pointers on designing a Nebulon frigate? Either way is fine with me.

Of course. All I request is that should you use it to properly reference to Adam Kopala (adamkop.deviantart.com).

Awesome, thanks!

Could I use this in a story?

Does she carry any fighters?

The Nebulon-D doesn't have a fighter compliment, but that doesn't rule out modifying one or creating a light carrier variant, like the Yavaris.

so what would a carrier version of this look like?
Shoguneagle's avatar
Mmmm, probably an expanded structure towards the forward structure, I'd imagine.

will you make the pics of the different configuations in the future?

I may commission them at some point, but there are other ships on my list that have priority.

Thank you for the compliments. Check out Adam Kopala's page and drop a compliment if you see fit.

I love it, Namely since it looks more uniform and less put together at the last minute. But that's of course kit bashing on part of ILM in the 70's

Looks like a great update to the Nebulon-B, which is one of my favorite designs in Star Wars, so this redesign gets a thumbs up.

Better version of the original - looks a ship, and looks like it can carry weapons into battle too!!

I think this is great but the part in the front going down( no idea what's it called ) it needs to be bigger or something I don't know how to write but something seems off with it

I'm going to echo this, the lower section feels too short. I love the overall aesthetic though.

I should add I meant short in the horizontal, from the lack of all the bumpy parts.
