Koensayr/Subpro BTL-Y6 Super Y-Wing by Shoguneagle Koensayr/Subpro BTL-Y6 Super Y-Wing by Shoguneagle
Two and half decades after the decisive Battle of Endor and the defeat of Tarkin’s Galactic Dominion, the Great Galactic Republic sought a replacement for both of its aging S-8 Mark I and Mark II P-Wing and BTL-Y3/Y4/Y5 series Y-Wing starfighters, especially in light of discovering that the Empire of the Hand was developing more advanced TIE fighters to add to its arsenal.

Having taken a backseat in starfighter sales for so long, Koensayr Manufacturing wasn’t compelled to simply lie down and allow Incom-FreiTek to continue to corner the market any longer. They teamed up with Incom’s former partner, Subpro Manufacturing, and redesigned the Y-Wing from the ground up. Incorporating more powerful engines, the latest Taim & Bak laser cannons, an enhanced targeting and sensor suite, and increased the amount of ordinance carried, to include a bomb/mine dispenser to expand the Y-Wing’s mission suite.

The end result was the BTL-Y6 Super Y-Wing, which was now more than a match for the Hand’s current TIE squadrons and posed a substantial threat to both capital warships and surface targets. Impressed with the advanced design, the Great Galactic Republic ordered thousands of them promptly and began fielding them to their fighter squadrons across the galaxy.

As is now the norm with your work, you show a great deal of skill, creativity and style in producing some beautiful pieces of art, especially when it is Star Wars related.

The thinking behind this design is simple: how do we update or upgrade the Y-Wing for the future?

The increased angles, as well as the change in colours (but in keeping with those famous rebel alliance colours) is welcomed and it adds to the familiarity this piece evokes. In every way it feels faster, more armoured, more powerful than it's predecessor.

I honestly hope and wish that this makes an appearance in the last part of the Sequel Trilogy, it's a really good piece of art that compliments the franchise and what came before as well as showing us what it could become going forward.

Be proud of yourself for this, and well done :).

Hope to See More Awesome Designs like this Soon! Anyone Who Says Bad things about this Design is Just Plain Jealous of the Superb Work on Display! Thanks to the artist for Doing a Bang up Job on the Super Y-Wing! This is Worthy of Being Built as a Scale Model,IMHO! Thanks For a Superb Job! Thank You!

LOVE IT TO DEATH!!!! I'm a BIG fan of the famed iconinc sci-fi Y-wing fighter... most recall the X-wing fighters instantly... I prefer the Y-wing myself.  I'm ery happy a starw ars fan thought about an update for this fighter design :) you should create this as a 3 D model :) I honestly however thought the ONLY flaw the Y-wing everr had was not being a bit more of a "Dog fighter".... the better to defend itself..... other then that the type is underated in my opinion. way I see it,  fighters make movies. Bombers make history ;)

Does the gunner/bombardier have other duties besides those such as shield and power distribution management seeing as there is no astromech droid to take care of those tasks?

Typically, the pilot can manage those. If not, the gunner/bombardier takes over.

Where the hell was this beautiful thing in the dumpster fire that is Last Jedi? Why didn't the Resistance just use faster fighter bombers like this instead of those stupid slow horribly designed monstrosities?

It almost looks like she could handle a crew of 3

Had been considered. But for a fighter of this size, a crew of two is more than adequate. The Strike Eagle operates on that.

Oooh, yeah. Haven't focused too much on the BOA pilots as of late. But if he lived afterward, he'd still be in his sixties. Maybe his grandson will fly one.

I thought since this taking place around the time of episode 4 did.  So he would still be in his prime. But okay.

Great design! Still has the feel of my beloved Y-Wing too. I like the fact the engines have a what looks to be a bit of armor on them too. Very nice job.
