Just posting about some recent (and not so recent) sightings on steam. These games are looking great! ----- Blue Rider Nice trailer for Blue Rider, Twin Stick Shooter.. by some talented guys at Ravegan
Don’t worry, we are still here.. Things got a bit messed up at the tail end of 2015, so updates thinned out, and our shmup dev had to take a back seat. But, now it’s the start of a new year, and we can look forwards at what might be for the new year.
But before we do that..
Here’s a few things that caught our eye over the holidays..
We also want to add our own shmup dev(although it has a lot of improvement needed) that we showcased at our local games expo ESGS. We had a single level of our game prototype (Cybertraxx – working title) available to test. Here’s the results of our work on that.. Cybertron/Cybertraxx (concept prototype) - Buko-Studios
We are also looking for feedback and support for our own games in development!!
The best way to do that right now is to follow us on deviant art or facebook, drop us a note telling us you are looking forward to seeing more from us. If we get enough support, we are hoping to put together a closed playtest group soon.
So here's a quick look back at 2015..
We increased our members to 350 ish, and we are consistently getting 20-30 views a day. --Small steps, but it’s nice all the same.
We showcased over 16 projects on our Journal, many of which have gone on to be Steam Greenlit or published. --Congrats to all those who completed their games in 2015!
The Shmupjam started well, and received a fair amount of interest, but did not push through for the full 12 months. --Still, there was good effort by all involved.. we got a lot out of it -(including our own game prototype above)
So what could be for 2016..? • More cool games featured. • New Shmup Development resources and support. • General News in the world of Shmups • A Community Activity – still conceptualising on this.. --should it be (graphics related? game-dev related? game playing/score related? -- something else?)
If you have suggestions or comments on what you would most like to have.. please post them in the comments.
Make a new years resolution!
If anyone has time to assist us in the development of this group, please also get in touch. (Even if you just have an hour a month you could contribute, that would still help keep the group lively.)
What we need most is just help finding and spreading awareness of shmup games in development. If you have development art posted on deviant art we can feature that.
This group provides an easy way for fans to easily spread awareness of the games they are seeing and enjoying. If you spot something cool, post a message to the group.. can be as simple as a line of text “check out this cool thing..” and a link.
On the off-chance that anyone is wishing to pool together resources or funding. This would go a long way to enabling this group to reach greater heights. – send us a direct message.
Thanks all for sticking around, and best wishes for 2016!
“Shmup” - Shoot-em-up. “STG” - Short for "shooting game" is the way Japanese refer to these games.
This group is for anyone interested in playing, developing, or gazing at action shoot-em-ups and related graphics.
You NEED to be in this group!!. its free! *Then get some comments in!* In addition to a great collection of shmup themed art, we also feature latest developments from Indie Game Developers looking for additional exposure from their games.
Please Please take some time to look at their projects.
Let them know if you like their games, and support them.
This is a very niche genre, it will only survive with your help.
New to the Shmup genre, check out this guide for all you need to know.
How to Contribute
