As a student of philosophy I often see both the communal and individualistic viewpoints in both their good, and bad sides. While a person may be labeled and individualist, that does not mean they are a negative to society, often the positive individualist is quite the opposite.
As seen on many a historic occasion one who is willing to stand up for their own ideals, even in the face of adversity, and see to it that their personal goals are reached, can, and usually does, positivly affect the world around them. If you look to the past and see it for what it is, it is the individuals, strong of mind and set on their own ambitions, that have changed the world.
Think of a famous person, someone who created a powerful, long lasting impact on the world around them, chances are this person was selfish, arrogant, confident, aggresive, idealistic, overbearing, and possibly vain. These strogn minded people shaped the world, and continue to do so. Is it such a hard thing to grasp that perhaps thos
