I didn't use the Disney designs, cause I didn't want Prince Phillip getting eaten by a zombie
This picture took three days, between 5 and 8 hours each day... I think it's a record for me. I rarely take that long to finish a picture. But I went full shading on everything and texture-happy, so there was a lot of little detail involved in this that normally isn't there in my other comic pages.
I deliberately wanted to try a strictly horizontal panel layout like you see in a lot of comic books these days. I declare it a success.
For the record, I love this.
This is the kind of like when you fall asleep after reading a fairy tale. Nightmares of the most gory kind.....
But you cannot forget it. Just like this art.
This is an amazing concept (Her aging process and being hungry after 100 years) and not to mention the beauty beneath the creepy. The 8th panel where she standing there, is one of the most well done drawings I have seen in a while.
The last scene is full of tiny details that make it so special. the blood looks splattered by force, a good match for the previous panel. And the blood on the dress just adds to the effect.
Kudos to you and this perfect work of art!!!
that is what the pretty boy gets for kissing a random sleeping chick! well anyway, the colors were amazing! the shading was perfect and i love the way the blood spattered out of his stomach. the whole thing was amazing, how sleeping beauty slowly decomposed into a zombie. i was also a fan of how she had blood spatter covering her clothes after she ripped out his intestines. this comics strip has vision, originality, technique and impact down to a tee. how you thought of sleeping beauty slowly decomposing after she was kissed, how you caught the fear in prince charming's eyes as she grabbed his throat in her steel grip. AMAZING!
This is truly remarkable! I love how this starts off in a very romantic type style and tradition only to go wrong, so very wrong for our prince charming. Your flow from Sleeping Beauty's transformation is just spot on. the prince's face looks absolutely terrifying and the last panel is gruesomely cool.
I can really see that after she is done feasting on his organ that she would return to her slumber and wait for her next Prince to try and wake her up. Shira-chan, you are an artist who constantly gets better and better. I salute you! I wish you the best in the contest!
This is very nice. The shading is well done and the people are well porportioned. The princess transforming into her zombie form is very creative and it's nice how the face looks the same as it goes through its transformations. The prince's intenstine is also well done.
The coloring is also nice. It's clean with no scratchy lines. The panel with just the red and the black shadows is fantastic.
I think that when you show a close up on her face, there could be a little more shading, maybe around the eyes and under the eyebrows.
But other than that, I don't have any other critiques!
Very nice work.
Your picture shira-chan.deviantart.com/art/… might be funny, but it’s a complete nonsense
If you read the fairy tale carefully, it (in all the versions) says something like this:
“The King, Queen and servants had all started their morning routines and right in the midst of them fell asleep too. The horses fell asleep in the stable, the dogs in the yard, the doves on the roof and the flies on the wall. Even the fire in the hearth grew still and went to sleep. The kitchen maid, who sat with a chicken before her, ready to pluck its feathers, fell asleep. The cook was in the midst of scolding the kitchen boy for a mess he'd made but they both fell fast asleep. The wind died down and on the trees in front of the castle not a leaf stirred.”
As you can see, all the living creatures fell asleep, and even fire and wind! I always deducted (even as a child) that this concerned also all the bugs (notice the flies in the quoted text), bacteria and every living stuff causing the decay of the body. So the princess's body could have stayed untouched for 100 years as the fairy tale states
