Description

It seems like everywhere you look, OCTs are putting up a ban against written entries. The reasons generally boil down to the simple fact that people are under the misconception that writing is somehow easy or a cop-out. It is not. Writing has it's good and bad points, just like any other storytelling medium.

Pros
:bulletblack: Writing is faster than drawing or animating.
:bulletblack: Less time means you can cram more detail into your entry than someone using visuals could.
:bulletblack: You are judged solely on your merit as a storyteller, not on how well you can or cannot draw.

Cons
:bulletblack: People don't like to read, so your entries will get less exposure than the visual ones.
:bulletblack: You can't show people the scene you are imagining in your head visually; you must paint the picture with words, which is easier said than done.
:bulletblack: Yes, everyone can write. But not everyone can write well. It takes time, patience, and a lot of practice to be able to write a good story, just like with any other art form.

The bottom line? Writing is just as much an art form as drawing, painting, sculpting, animating or photography. Please give it the respect it deserves and start accepting written mediums in OCTs.

i first started my oct career as an artist doing comics, but as time went on i grew tired of drawing so i decided to try my hand at writing oct battles. I felt my strength was writing an action scene but my dialogue and story telling suffered greatly. If it weren't for oct's id still be a shit writer. Now ive written a novel and felt the growth of my skill is sorely based on oct's!

(sorry for the grammar, its real late and im too tired to correct it.)
