Naruto OC- Ongaku Midori

This is my OC for Naruto, the one and only Ongaku Midori. She was drawn for me as a request by the great Bruno-sensei [link].

Family History: The Ongaku clan were some of the most powerful Taijutsu users in the entire Land of Water, being able to use many forms of Taijutsu and easily learning any Taijutsu style that they would encounter fairly quickly. The Ongaku clan were also very passionate of many types of music, ranging from traditional music to the modern pop/rock. They tended to wear clothes that would not hinder their movement or restrict them in any way when in battle. The Ongaku clan’s Kekkei Genkai is called Henbyoushi (Change of Rhythm) and with it an Ongaky clan member could to feel vibrations through the ground and can predict an opponent’s movement based on those vibrations. As the user feels the “beat” in the ground, their body would react naturally and move them out of harm’s way and such. This allowed them to dodge attacks they couldn’t even see by normal means. The problem is that many members had a tendency to think too much instead of just going with the flow of the “beat” they felt in the ground, thus it took many of them quite a while to awaken this skill. The clan was destroyed after the removal of Kekkei Genkai from the Land of Water, leaving only Midori and Aogane as the only Ongaku members alive.

Personal Family History: Midori’s parents were considered the strongest members of the Ongaku clan, and both were considered candidates to become leaders. Her elder brother, Aogane, was seen as a prodigy and many believed that he would be the greatest of his line. However, Midori’s mother, Akane, and her father, Katsuo, were extremely individualistic and both died during an assassination job. After their death, Aogane was left to watch over his sister. Aogane, like his parents, was extremely individualistic, and so set up a plan so that Midori would be sent to Konoha with the promise that one day he would see Midori again.

Personality: Midori is both optimistic and cheerful, enjoying jokes, laughing, and most of all, seeing others smile heartily. Her good side outshines her loneliness and the pain of not knowing much about her past except for the face of a young man that haunts her dreams. She is always training with her “rival”, Rock Lee, or her second father, Utsumaru, striving to improve her Taijutsu to the point of perfection, and from this training she has grown a strong relationship with both. Midori rarely tries to be the leader of the group, preferring to support her team in some other way. She has a crush on Rock Lee since she met him, but has kept it secret as she doesn’t know if he likes her. Midori also rarely gets mad, but when she does, no known force has been able to stop her from beating the crap out of the offender. She also loves sweets (especially chocolate pocky) as much as music, and will do anything for either.

Weapons of Choice: Midori mainly uses her feet, elbows, or forehead in battle because of her preferred fighting style, Capoeira. However, she carries the main shinobi tools (kunai, shuriken, exploding tags, etc.) just in case she needs them. She also carries a small portable radio that she listens to when she uses her Capoeira, which serves only as a source of entertainment to her and an annoyance to her opponent.

Jutsus:

Banraiashi (Heavy Thunder Leg) - An upgraded variant of the Tadaiashi, were Midori expels chakra from her feet at the moment her leg/foot touches the opponent.

Capoeira: A very interesting style of Taijutsu that Midori excels in. The basis of this style is marked by fluid acrobatic play, feints, subterfuge, and extensive use of groundwork, as well as sweeps, kicks, and headbutts. The most unusual part of this style is that the user seems to be “dancing” whenever they are defending, attacking, or just in rest. Because of the speed and the feints in this style, the user is also very unpredictable.

Kazanashi (Volcano Leg) - Midori collects as much of her chakra and friction as possible onto one of her feet by spinning around in one place, and then delivers a powerful kick at the opponent. This Jutsu can be used as many times as Midori desires and the kick is able to burn through solid steel.

Henbyoushi (Change of Rhythm) – The Ongaku clan Kekkei Genkai. With it, an Ongaku clan member could to feel vibrations through the ground and can predict an opponent’s movement based on those vibrations. As the user feels the “beat” in the ground, their body would react naturally and move them out of harm’s way and such. This allowed them to dodge attacks they couldn’t even see by normal means. Suiken (Drunken Fist) - This unusual style of combat can't be learned or taught. It only occurs naturally, and requires the user to be drunk. Decent skill in some form of combat may also be helpful. Once the former condition is met, the user becomes an unpredictable fighter seemingly unable to discern friend from foe. Lee and Midori are particularly talented in this form of combat; hence others’ concern whenever they learn that Lee or Midori may be exposed to alcohol. The unpredictability combined with Lee’s and Midori’s formidable Taijutsu skills makes them a force to be reckoned with. Kimimaro Kaguya was only able to hold Lee and Midori off by partially activating his cursed seal. There a few odd things when Midori uses this style of fighting: she acts just like Lee when he is drunk, from shouting “Yahoo!” at the end of her attacks to using her fists as well as her legs.

Tadaiashi (Heavy Leg) - A powerful kick with the force to cleave large boulders in half.

Likes: Chocolate Pocky, Rock Lee, jokes, smiles, music, dancing, being with others, training, Utsumaru, and ramen.

Dislikes: Being alone, quiet, having nothing to do at all, anyone trying to get Lee’s attention, and sardines.

Future Goals: To find the person whom she sees in her dreams (i.e. her brother, Aogane).

Brief History: At the age of five, which is around the time that Utsumaru adopted her, Midori’s life truly began. She was raised by Utsumaru, and Midori was trained under him in the Taijutsu style of Capoeira, as well as other Taijutsu styles. At the age of thirteen, Midori was allowed to do a special test that would allow her to become a Kunoichi (female ninja) by herself. When she passed with flying colors, Utsumaru decided that Midori would join a shinobi team so that she would learn the truth of being a shinobi. She was placed in Team Seven, and soon she became good friends with the entire team. However, she soon found out that tutelage of Kakashi wasn’t very great, and the only friend she made was Naruto, whom Midori began to call “Naru-nii-chan” as their friendship grew. During their first Chuunin Exam, Midori is challenged constantly by a Sound Nin, whom refers to himself as Dosu and his teammates. Needless to say, the confrontation between the two gives Midori a bit of information about the person she is looking for, and gives her hope that she will find him.

Usual Clothes: Midori usually dresses in a pair of baggy pants and a sports bra of green color. After a while, Midori decides to sport a type of shirt that sports no sleeves or that covered her back, also green in color. Her headband is around her waist and acts like a belt, holding her small radio in place. On Midori’s feet are a special pair of shinobi sandals that ignite with enough chakra and friction, which she invented with Utsumaru’s help.

Extra Information: Midori seems to hate getting in anything she deems girly, and will usually react violently at anyone trying to get her in a dress (at one time Utsumaru tried to get her in a dress, it ended up in a disaster). She became a Genin at the age of thirteen and was the only other Kunoichi to make it all the way to the finals along with Temari. She has a crush on Hyuuga Neji, for the simple fact that it was Neji who had saved her from some bullies when she was younger. Midori is good friends with Hyuuga Hinata, and they are usually seen around either talking or shopping. When she has the day off, she can usually be found practicing her Capoeira with Lee or Utsumaru, or listening to music near the forests of Konoha. The green sunglasses she has with her were given to her by Utsumaru, and she takes particular good care of these. Midori has a height complex, and she tends to become extremely agitated when someone mentions her height (meaning that she blows her top when she gets teased saying things like "Who are you calling a midget-sized bean sprout?!?" or "who are you calling a mountain sized Amazon?!?").
