What a day...

Description

So, let's look past the bike gets stolen and returned almost to the same spot part of this sunny day, and concentrate more on the railfanning. Yes, I'm not being very creative at the moment, but before I stop shooting completely, I can at least produce some nice train pics until I find some new theme.

I got up early (for weekend standards) to shoot this, a chartered special train with a former Bundesbahn V200 diesel engine. My plan almost got foiled by the very train I take to university every morning, but luckily, the driver was heavy on the throttle and quickly accelerated out of the station, the double decker cab car being visible in the background. You might have seen an older shot by me of such an engine, or even this shot by Torsten, depicting the very same engine we see here. There's also some technical data in the description of both pics, should you be interested. The V200 is most famous for its industrial design from the 1950s, and of course the very fitting colours scheme.

A little oddity: There were several "Silberlinge" with their original varnish (namely none) in the train as well, which is odd because those were built for commuter services, not long distance travel... You should also have heard this train braking as well, all carriages had good old block instead of disk brakes, splitting your eardrums as they slowed to a stop.
