Description

After the pleasant suprise :iconzcochrane: gave me with his deviation [link] , I had to respond with my own trophy of sorts ;)

Here you can see one of the remaining class 110, of which I had only one pic until recently, that can be seen here [link] in a more... artistic manner :XD: Anyways, while taking some pics of an ICE train awaiting its departure in Duisburg, as the reflection of the now blooming surrounding in the train's windows just looked awesome, a 110 sneaked up behind me so to speak. As ZCochrane mentioned, I'm constantly on the lookout for one of these, and after the ICE had departed, I turned around and saw it standing there, with the driver leaning out the window and looking back towards his train, the unmistakable gesture of an iminent departure. Despite the odds, I started running like mad (the train was two platforms away, so I had to run to the stairs, down, across, up, and back towards the engine again), and I could just catch it. I ran past it, turned around, and it was already coming towards me. Luckly, I have this sort of refex to pan along with the object I'm trying to get a picture of, and in almost all cases, I managed to get a decent shot with my crappy little camera. And after a bit of cheap photoshopping, it doesn't even look half bad. The sun was already pretty low, so thats why the left side seems oversaturated, but thats how it looked like, so I didn't edit it.

It has also been brought to my attention that my pics are a wee bit too large, which is probably because thats my preference, and my screen is rather large, but if you consider this size as too big, don't be afraid to speak out ;) Comments are generally welcome of course :)

EDIT: Even though the description is overlong already, I wanted to add that the odd thing about this train was the fact that there was a class 111 on the other end, with both Pantographs lowered. Instead of the rear lights being on, it had these plates [link] on its back. I don't have any clue how they are called in English, ZCochrane has just told me that they're called "Zugschlusszeichen", and normally mark the end of trains with no rear lights, such as freight trains. All of this, and the fact that the train was still standing at the depot the next day lead me to the conclusion, that the 111 was defective and had to be towed away by the 110, together with the rest of the train of course. OK, now I'll stop talking, honest! :D

Another edit, this time some neat links on this engine :D

Here's a nice shot of this engine with its first livery by :iconclassictrains:

Here's another shot of the good old blue varnish taken at almost exactly the same location as mine. The station building hasn't changed a bit since then :D

And lastly, a little vid that shows such an engine departing from the opposite rail (the one behind us in this shot).
