Description
Wat Arun Rajwararam (Thai: วัดอรุณราชวราราม) is a Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand. Wat Arun is standing at the river-side of Chao Phraya River. People sometimes call this temple "Temple of the Dawn" in English. This temple is very beautiful at sunrise hour and sunset hour.
That tall one is Buddhist tower. Height is 75 meter. It’s expressed Mt.Sumeru which is standing at the centre of the world in Buddhism. ^^
Construction was in the period of King Rama II (1809-1824) and King Rama III (1824-1851).
That Buddhist tower is supported by kurts and monkeys. A lot of their statures are caved on the side of tower. (“Kurt” is… translated as a “demon” in English. But I think it’s a bit different from demon, because kurts are always supporting towers with monkeys as guardians in Thai Biddhist temples)
I took this picture at night from an opposite-side of Chao Phraya River. Light-up of Wat Arun is really beautiful.
