EDIT: She just died in my arms...

.......................

Hello people!

My friend FlameKurosei wanted to see more of this specie I made a year ago, for fun, so tadaa.
They are kind of frogs...but also fish...monster thing. I called them "FrogFishs" (because I have to much imagination, lol)

3 days ago I adopted 2 rescued guinea pigs. One of them is in pretty poor condition, I saw that her theeth and claws was too long, curled, and when she eat, she do not open the mouth very much. She is very skinny, I can feel her bones.
I would like to take them both to the vet, I don't know much about guinea pigs but they do not looks like the one on youtube, they don't make ANY noises, stay in a corner all day long and even pee on themself.

Unfortunately, I already spend more than 1000$ the last month into vet bills, and also for my own hospital bills.
I was kinda depressed because of the results I've got from the hospital (do not worry, they are all very good, that's the point, it s mean that I have to make more tests to know what I have and I'm sooo tired to play the cobay)

But, theses piggies give me the motivation to work and draw again, I know I make something usefull and this makes me happy c:

Also, if someone is a guinea pig expert, I would love to have some advices c:

Hey... The little guinea pig just passed away in my arms, she started to breath slowly, I took it in my arms, in a blanked because she was pretty cold, I just had enough time to say "hey, what's wrong? Everything is good now, you don't have to worry" and she passed away... It was so fast

I would love to adopt  #4!

Also wanted  to toss in some advice in addition to the other great comments here!

I had a rescue piggy myself!   Once they start having problems they can go downhill fast.  to help her put on weight  because she was incredibly skinny too my vet had us use a syringe to feed her pea  mash (or pea baby food but putting fresh peas in a food processor is just as good as long as it's not too thick/chunky) they usually gobble it on their own (but of course never force it because if they choke they can't throw up /lack a gag  reflex. )

Also guinea pigs dehydrate very quickly so check that they are drinking a lot of water! You can use they syringe method for water too if they're not drinking on their own.  Depending on how skittish they are of you it might be worth wrapping them in a towel first.

They'll also drop weight if their gut stops moving, they're kinda like little hay/grass compactors they need to always have their gut working.
Timothy hay and pelets + fresh veggies make for happy piggers!

Your vet should have more information once you find out . I know you take great care of your pets I wish you the best of luck with these babes!

oh jeeze.. I'm so sorry to hear. I know when guineas get ill they can take that bad turn really quickly.

You probably gave that little piggy the most kindness they ever had and believe me I know how fast it happens so just having enough time to tell the little one all was okay is really something.

I  really wished things would turn out better. I know you did everything you could. ; n ;

Best of luck with rescuing the guinea pigs! I hope they warm up to you (and stop peeing on themselves, oh no why do they do that??).

If they are new to your household you need to get them to the vet for a check-up anyways.
I had a rat who let his teeth over-grow (I provided him with chewing blocks and other chew toys) and the vet had to clip his teeth for him. Suffice to say he never got lazy about tooth care again after that.
Guinea pigs are healthy until they are not, and when they are not its a very slippery slope. If she is skinny and needs teeth and claws clipped thats definitely a trip needed to the vet.
Your pigs are quiet and in the corner because they are scared. Do you have a igloo or hidey-boxes for them to take shelter in? Also a hay pen would be good (Like a little cat litterbox with an opening so they can jump in and out filled with hay) so they can feel hidden while they eat their hay.
Once more healthy and secure in their new home, they will become more chatty and playful. They will need time.

I follow Sherwood Smallpets for guineapig care and tips (I built my babes their cage with her instructions. Super cheap and easy to do!) and helps you to know their noises, meanings, and other helpful things.

While im broke, I will advertise this for you <3 May your babes recover quickly.

Hello!
Yes, they hide into an igloo but the previous owner say to me that they are always like that... Quiet and not moving.
They look kinda... Depressed?

If they are in such poor health, its enough to say there is a chance they are depressed or still so even scared. They are prey animals, loud noises and alot of movement is scary for them. Its taken my girls 6 months in a bedroom where no guests come in and out of aside from those of us who live here for them to get fully out of their shell. Though Pumpkin (one of my 2, Dragon is the other) is kinda a social butterfly and loves my dogs and cat and attempts to snuggle them. Dragon however is very skiddish and doesnt like anything, took her a while to be comfortable to be out of her igloo at all while someone was around let alone begin talking to us. Some days the only thing that gets her out is being mean to my cat who enjoys visiting Pumpkin. Dragon will go out of her way to try to bite my kitty who will sit in the cage to snuggle with Pumpkin.

As I had said, with guinea pigs once sick its a very very slippery slope. I would be lying if I said I didnt fear that :(
None the less, you should take the one still around to the vet. Once healthy, look into introducing another younger guinea pig to them. They are social animals and are more prone to die if kept alone.
That being said, I am so sorry you lost them. They are very fragile creatures, and hard to re-rehabilitate. Its not your fault

Yeah, it's what I said to my fiancé (who is now in france for job)
I'm still going to the vet with the other one , I already took an appointement c:
I read that guinea pigs are sad alone, may be it's better to take another older one?
What do you think?  It doesnt matter?

Age doesnt matter really when matching up guineapigs, however personality types do. If you have two dominant pigs, bloodshed may occur. Two submissive ones are far better off! So as long as you are able to bring home another pig for a couple days for close monitoring and take them back if needed, older pigs are fine. I was suggesting a younger one because then the older of the two pigs (one you have) would be able to be dominant piggy just fine without much issues.
Either way, they need to be introduced.
Its actually important for them to not be a lonely creature. Depression, heart attacks, anxiety, death of loneliness is common with single pigs.
Much like love birds if you can spend all your time with them, a piggy companion is a must.

I can help you with some advice. Get them chewing blocks.. you can find them in petstores and if you have a supercenter like walmart that carries pet supplies. Guinea pigs and other similar species need to chew on things to dull their teeth down, if that doesn't work then they definitely need to go to the vet to get their teeth fixed. Besides that, you can used regular small fingernail clippers to clip their claws. DO NOT CUT BELOW OR CLOSE to the quick. I used to have about 4 or 5 when I was younger, plus I've had rabbits/ferrets/dogs/cats which all need their claws clipped to that standard below. v

Here is a diagram: guineapigcare.com.au/images/tr…

*Edit, I would like to also mention Rabbit and Guinea pig teeth always GROW... so that is why they need things to chew on and play with. (The blocks are normally wooden)

Hello!
Thanks for your advices!
Her claws are curled on themself like a snail I... I can't cut them like on the picture (or I'm afraid because don't know where the hell to start XD)
I already saw a blood bath in my head sooooo I'll let do the vet haha

XD Ah yes that can be difficult! Yeah never cut the quick.. because they can bleed out.. although I accidentally did with my dog Lacy at one point and held a hot damp cloth on her nail with a lot of pressure to get it to clot... and one of my rabbits some how literally tore her claw off so I cleaned it up and did the same thing. ;-; It can get scary because they could possibly bleed to death if they don't clot up. (Vets also have a special blue powder to quickly seal the quick if it's cut)

I would totally buy one of these babs if I had the money to help out! XD Ah All I could do was offer advice.
