I've been in India for the past 3 months, and plan to be here another 2 months. Right now, I am at Sivananda Saraswati Sevashram http://buildhope.org/, my aunt and uncle's orphanage. I am working with the kids to teach them English and computer skills, and am drawing in my other time, mostly quick sketches and cartoons. Check my twitter and instagram to see the sketches. It is difficult to get quality art supplies (in my case, paper) in India, even in the big cities like Chennai. So, I'll probably stick to small sketches for awhile.
Moreover, I find that the small sketches/cartoons are what I feel like doing these days, rather than involved
I am preparing myself for my next photorealistic drawings. In some ways this preparation has been going on for several years, as I have focused on line and shading technique, even in drawings purely from the imagination. Also I feel as though my mind is "refreshed" and ready to concentrate on recreating minute detail from reference images. This is because I have spent the last year working on drawings with their basis solely in the imagination.
