THIS SHOULD TOTALLY BE THE NEW NICKEL.

How do you do that? Did you pound out the image and re-carve this or something else?
shaun750's avatar
Re carve into the surface of the coin with gravers, and tiny grinders.

After thinking about it, I figured that's what you did. Pounding the at the coin would have left it distorted and really hard to work with.

Nice job by the way. These are pretty awesome.

Ironic how you put the soldier of a repressive dictatorship with the word Liberty.

Yes,that occured to me while carving it.
Collectors prefer the LIberty and date intact.
It sort of seemed ok with a stormtroper,as they are kind of cool, and not that scary, but a Nazi soldier wouldn't work.

Here in Canada it's illegal to "deface" a coin. No matter how cool it looks. Mind you it's never enforced.
Now do a nickel with a pilot from the rebel alliance.

I did a few canadian coins, one large silver with our queen on it?
There is al least one Candian coin carver,I've seen on ebay.
The pilots dont look half as cool,or recognizable, and yet they are the good guys?

This coin sold on ebay last night:)

I decided becuse of the postive response, i'm going to do a limited number of stamped British 2 pences with the storm trooper head in profile, over the top of the Queens head.
I make my own coin dies, and counter stamp coins and let them free in the world in my change for whoever notices.A bit like coin graffiti.

I watched your videos and they are fascinating.  I have some questions When you engrave is the tool a power tool or hand powered? And How do you polish off the face and still keep the lettering?
shaun750's avatar
Most of what I'm doing is using an airgraver, like a tiny jackhammer.
I dont always remove the indian head, and just dive straight in,you might need the metal.
If i do,i carve away what I dont want, and grind with tiny burs,or hand metal scrapers.
Thanks for watching
