Dispersion Shader by Shastro Dispersion Shader by Shastro
Its a special kind of glass shader, where its acts like a prism, creating the rainbows (that you might have to zoom in to see) Not sure how interesting this image is, and I actually made it a while ago, but its now I got a little bit more shader knowledge on the belt, which will definitely come in handy for some pony images (of which I am sorry for the lack of)

Made in Blender, rendered in cycles and edited in Photoshop
Render Information:
- Took about 2 or 3 hours on an Nvidia Gtx 860m at 1000 samples.

as always STAY AWESOME! and thanks for putting up with this little hiatus of mine. It feels weird, but I have animations that I have to make with deadlines, so they've taken up all of my time. In about a week normal production will come back.

Wow, that is simply gorgeous! As always, I'm really enjoying the DoF on this, really makes the main focus stand out.

That prism shader looks to hold some really amazing potential and I'm really looking forward to seeing what all you do with it.:D

Good luck with everything, Shastro.

Oh I'm sorry, I can't believe that i gave you the wrong link (*Slaps Forehead*) Anyway here is the proper link to the shader: i.imgur.com/eceBYZI.jpg Be sure to set your lightpaths to "Full Global Illumination" to get rid of the dark spots that pop up inside glass :) Sorry about the delay

Wait how did you make the rainbow? Cause Blender renders another way preventing a rainbow being doable.

Oh I see. not the kinda rainbow I was thinking of.

Yeah I think you were thinking of the kind of rainbow that shoots onto a table near the prism, not the rainbows within the prism itself. Although I am under the firm belief that anything is possible, just someone hasn't figured out how to do it yet :)

Well. if you can rewrite blender's render code sure. Cause like I said. it renders from camera to the object or something of the sort. Now if it was under another engine maybe. idk.

Lol that might be the solution, maybe if I python script my own shaders, if not its always possible to fake it, nothing has to be physically simulated, it just has to look good.

Amazing shader I've always wanted to try making this, I have an idea of how I would do it but would you care sharing?

Also what projects have you been working on?

Thanks for the complement, although it wasn't my genius that came up with the shader, that honor goes to CG cookie, but the knowledge I learned from it will be extremely beneficial.

Here's the setup, don't forget to set you light paths to "Full Global Illumination" to get rid of the dark spots in glass: i.imgur.com/eceBYZI.jpg

I've been working on two animations for my school, one demonstrates the proper order of the steps to shoot a bow (my schools main sport is archery) and the other animation is part of Shakespeare's play "A midsummer's night dream" although since both are my first ever character animations, they are more than worse, but I might publish them later, if someone is curious.

Ha that's funny that's exactly what I figured was done XD. Thanks!!

More schools need archery! I wish I had the money to grow up in the sport, once I outgrew my bow I pretty much stopped. GL on your animations BTW.
Animation is always tough starting out first time. I hope you learn the tools faster than I am.

Its all in the practice, and the will the artist has to improve, hopefully I can atleast pull off one of those things ;) Although my school provides the bows, but you have to compete in the team to shoot, sometimes we shoot in PE but mostly instead we do ka-ra-te.

Thanks once again for commenting on my works ddplad, ill have to make something to thank the handful of people who regularly comment, once I get more free time!

I see. man interesting school, karate too

That would be awesome, definitely not going to shoot the idea down :D but I'm not holding you to it either. Free time, mmm that elusive thing we all try to have XD

If torture is interesting, then yeah, but its the only school iv ever seen where students walk to school carrying weapons (their bows, if they have their own, which quite a few do) but my pe teacher could be in the military, seriously sometimes hell punish you with hundreds of burpies (push-ups and a jump)

Yeah i need to thank you guys somehow :) Ahh summer break should bring some for me, besides when I'm doing college stuff.

School has ups and downs, like most things

Its on my official list of things to make (on my profile) so it should be done eventually, also i plan on making a tribute to all blender pony artists, by using many different models in one render, i got the idea for this with the release of Chronotrickle's pony model, feel free to send me your OC and ill try to include him in the image! er at least both images, im not sure if ill make both, so the Huge blender artist one might end up being your thanks, still in the concept stage, and It'll be while I wonna make sure I have the skills to make it good (wouldn't want a crappy tribute/thankyou image now would we?) On that note before I dig myself into a hole of high expectation don't expect much :)
