Bokeh Test by Shastro Bokeh Test by Shastro
Not all that original, interesting, creative or artistic, but it was nice to take a break from large projects and make something simple, to learn simple things (like bokeh). Was inspired by Gleb Alexandrov's Bokeh Tutorial for CG artists, which can be found over at creativeshrimp.com

You can find the usual technical jargon below:

Made with Blender (Cycles) and Photoshop

Render Information:
-
Rendered on an Nvidia GTX 860m at 1000 Samples
-Took about an 1:30 minutes

Hope You Enjoy and as always STAY AWESOME!

Turned out well, I have yet to get even close to mastering compositing I really need to put more time into it, how many samples did you use in the bokeh node? It turned out very photo realistic

Did you get a new laptop or did you just start using GPU rendering? It's nice you didn't have to wait 9 hours like normal, I know this scene is a lot simpler to render than most of your scenes, since the lack of particles, but maybe that wasn't the whole tale?

Thank You! Actaully I didn't do a single thing in the compositor it was all under the Camera dof settings: i.imgur.com/wWK0Bg7.jpg I always recommend using emptys as focus points.

As for the laptop, no I've been using the same one, its just with the hair renders it usually causes crashes when on GPU rendering. All of my images the predate the clouds one were on GPU, only recently has CPU become a necessity, and since I don't plan on going back to the solid hair for a quite a while, I think CPU will dominate most of my serious renders. Hair seems to kill almost as much as volumetrics, at least when there's over 150 thousand of them :)

Composition I don't really understand, nor compositing but both are extremely important, most of my post production is in photoshop though.

If you want .blend I can give ya one :)

Naw that's fine, I figured that that quality of DoF would have to come from the compositor, I feel you on the GPU render, I'm definitely making a Xeon CPU my next pricey purchase.

That's really pretty!

You're right, it's not very complex; but it's still nice to look at. The DOF is really nice on this one.

Thank You! It was a lot of fun to make, and I thought it looked nice enough to put up on deviantart, you'd be surprised how many images I make, compared to how many make it onto deviantart.
