Blender Pony Artists Tribute! Updated! by Shastro Blender Pony Artists Tribute! Updated! by Shastro
UPDATED! - With improved grammar and some redundant "Awesomes" removed :) It was like 3 am when I wrote this

Hello Everyone! I got special image for you guys today! Its been in the works for over a month now (admittedly most of that was waiting for models) but I think its finally done!

This image is a compilation of many different models from all kinds of different Blender Pony Artists, and some of these models have never been used by anyone other than their creators.

If you see your work present here or would like to learn more about these Awesome and Amazing Artists PLEASE READ BELOW:

The Awesome Artists That Let Me Use Their Models (In No Particular Order):

CreatorOfPony - Creator of the Awesome Tree Roots, the EQG Pinkie Pie and the Applejack she is riding, this extremely talented modeler has provided some of the first High Quality Fully Rigged Blender Pony models ever! and has provided countless new artists the tools they needed to get started in blender. I'm sure CreatorOfPony smiles every time a new artists posts a new image "My first Blender Image" sporting one of his models.

Uncommented - This very talented modeler is the creator of the bat pony near the center of the image and the creator of the the Tatzljack (I think I spelled that wrong) hiding in the cart on the lower right side of the image. This artist was one of the first blender pony artists I came across and has given me helpful advice on where to start when it comes to modeling. His style is unique and cool, and you gotta love his AMAZING Uncommented STYLE WINGS!, which by the way number 2 on my list of things to learn (In my journals). He also does 3D prints, have one of his models on your desk!

ShipIsLoveShipIsLife - Few artists up pop outta no where so fast, and improve at such a rate as ShipIsLoveShipIsLife when I first saw his art I was impressed by his photoshop skills and his compositional prowess. Not long after that he started creating full fledged 3D scenes and models. He created both the Apple Bloom Bug Fighting Cart (Don't know its name) and the Awesome Cart that Uncommented's Tatzljack is hiding in. He is also working on an awesome looking Animation I look forward to what this artist creates and you should too!

Temporal333 - Another Awesome Artist! Most of his pony work thus far has been in 3ds Max w/ Vray but recently he's tried his hand at blender and produced an Amazing Looking Flutterbat (seen right at the front) that undeniably adorable : 3 Look at her with that pear... Awwwww. Go check out his gallery if you like awesome 3D ponies (and some guitar/ gun models)

ChronoTrickle - Like ShipIsLoveShipIsLifeChronoTrickle has a knack for improving at a rapid rate and has been working on his pony model for quite a while now. His unique and awesome model is the Applejack in the lower right hand corner of the image, and has a very Pixar'y feel and is extremely impressive for only half way done, and I like the charm it has. If you've ever tried 3D modeling this artists deserves nothing but respect :)

PercyTechnic - Was the first person (as far as I could tell) to submit a finished work to the MyLittle3DGroup and has been pumping out content ever since. Recently he created an awesome Gilda model (seen on the right hand side of the image) that has been converted to SFM and even used by Argodaemon in an Awesome Poster! That must have been cool! Give him a watch for more awesome models, more cool SFM ports, and more Blender!

TowarzyszCumill - Creator of the Pony Gas Mask worn by Lyra in the upper left hand corner he has been making awesome blender images for quite a while and recently started using CreatorOfPony's models. This mask is a tiny piece of his gallery, and he has load of great blender images, and there's only more to come.

Faztor5 - Responsible for the cute Fluttershy model in the lower left hand corner, His model is unique, and while it might not be the most complicated or complete model here, its unbelievably better than any model I could make, and its a great start :)

JetPowerFIE - Creator of the MASSIVE! Crystal Empire Zephyr (the train in the backround) Its a rare treat to see vehicles (especially at this scale) created in art at all, let alone in 3D, yet here it is, a well made model with all kinds of cool uses given a moment of thought. I did modify the shaders a bit, and its still got a few kinks, but its still a great model, and I'm sure if it was ported over into SFM you'd see it all the time.

dpplad - Last but certainly not least we have dpplad! This awesome guy is the creator of the beautiful OC in the front of the image between the Applejack and the Flutterbat (Just look at those EYES!) Not only is his model awesome but he's been extremely nice! Posting a thought out comment on almost every single image I've made and for that I want to give my most sincere Thank You!

Shastro - HEY THATS ME! I only throw myself in here because I made the lyra hair, (had to represent myself somehow : P) Though I'm not sure if I'm an AWESOME! artists, maybe one day :)

                                                                                                                                               Other Awesome Artists:

Now just because I work in Blender and just because I only showed Blender artists here, doesn't mean there are loads of EXTREMELY AWESOME ARTISTS! that make pony art that isn't in Blender. Here is some more awesome artists that don't use Blender, but still have made some beautiful work and need some attention.

Harikon- This Awesome ZBrush Artist makes impressive models and is always making more! Seriously some inspiring work.
FlutterCZ- This Cinema 4D artist has made many cool renders and his gallery deserves a peek :)
AlligatorSkiesIX - This 3ds Max artist has created some beautiful models and his Rainbowdash is not only awesome, its cute, functional, and looks great in motion. I have come to him for lots of critique and advice, and I cannot wait for his next creation!

Destro-the-Dragon - While he may not be a 3D artist that doesn't make him any  less awesome, go to him for any of your pixel art needs, and a sonic oc or two :) His overwhelming niceness is nothing short of inspiring and like dpplad has posted a comment on nearly every single image I make no matter the quality, always with something kind to say and some good advice.

I hope you guys liked the image! :)

In conclusion:

I know for a fact that I left out countless artists here and many I may have just never heard of, could not get access to their models, or simply ran out of time. Their are plenty of inspiring 3D artists in the Pony fandom and I recommend you check out the MyLittle3DGroup for all those that I have missed even though they deserve every bit of attention they could get.

I tried not to go over board with the compliments and I know I sounded like a suck up but I mean every last bit of it, and every last one of you 3D artists whether pony or not, whether I mentioned you or not have inspired me and always always push me to keep going.

Thank You all and don't ever forget to STAY SO FRICKEN AWESOME!

i can see that i am not alone on the issue of the face and how round / curved a pony's face is supposed to be

that said he did do a good job on the flutterbat (who btw made a return in the idw comics)

To work out the roundness I recommend finding some good pony references and using them as modeling sheets.

So this was the "secret project"!   Something of this magnitude requires bullet points!

-  WOAH!!! What a project!!  This is so cool, all these different artist's work complied into one scene, what a work.  Very cool and unique idea.  I didn't realize there that many blender pony artist around!  Gets me wondering if any collabs might result from this.  I feel so honored being listed next to these titans among the community, these big names I see pioneering new aspects of brony CGI.  I truly am honored.

- THAT SHADER!!! That is perfect!! Its so beautiful, realistic, yet the color makes it look so sleek, almost military.  And the scaling!  It's much larger than I had thought originally, but like this, it's perfect! I first looked into the background and thought, "Is that my train?  It looks so cool!", but then i realized that I was only looking at the cattleguard on the front.  It was atleast twice as big!  :jawdrop:I keep coming back to this, drooling at it, inspiring me to continue with my other projects.

- You really think this would be good in SFM?  If so, I'll try to get it over to that.

I really wish I could format this better...but SO COOL!!!

Thank You so much for enjoying the image! letting me use the model! and writing such a long comment!

P.S- This is just one of many "secret projects, and its not the BIG! one I keep mentioning :P "

- Funnily enough this is not nearly all of the blender artists that I have come across some didn't get my model requests, and others I just didn't know about, these are almost entirely from the MyLittle3D group. I feel honored to be using these models, and that includes yours.

- I'm glad you didn't mind that I changed the shaders, and I think that this model could be taken into beautiful places, Imagine what it would be like with interiors! How fun would it be to create a scenes from the Christmas movie "The Polar Express" I wasn't sure how large to scale it since there was no ponies in the image you used it in, but I figured it would need to be huge, and I tried to make sure that the train was not too large to barely fit in the image.

- As for SFM I'd say experiment with it, and I think it would be a really cool asset to SFM animators, you might see it pop up in unexpected places.

Thanks Again! and honestly I don't find my image all that great, but I'm so glad that you enjoyed it, since thats all I really wanted from this image- So that the creators would smile a bit.

Don't forget to stay awesome, and keep making stuff, maybe one day I'll make a VERSION 2

Yay more secret projects!  ( I think I know what it is).

As as for scale, once again well done lacking a scale. And this may sound funny, but I don't think I'll ever include a pony model (probably a human/EQG/HR model in upcoming one  though) as it limits my portfolio. I'll do the interior sometime after I finish my current commission and then the two other projects.   I'll redownload SFM, and I've got someone who offered a long time ago to connect me with someone to port it over, so I might see if he can help me.

I look forward to your future projects!

Because My Streams will be limited (I'm visiting family so I have unlimited internet) normally at least once a day
I will stream every friday in a multistream with the artist of the Adapting To Night Comics and another SFM artist every friday at 4:30 Pacific Time I believe

(Sorry I'm seeing this so late, unfortunately this only came up in my "group" notifications)

Wow, I'm honored to be featured here and I'm happy that you my opinions have meant something to you.:)

And as always; the render itself here is really nice, that refraction effect on the crystals is always just the prettiest thing and it really makes the castle look great. It was very thoughtful to pay tribute to the 3D artists that influenced you throughout the way, and the result looks fantastic. It is really interesting to see how different the MLP modeling community approaches the appearance of characters, and I can't say that I would be able to see those unique qualities this clearly if I hadn't really seen this; I mean I knew that there were a lot of different custom models, but I've never seen them in the same setting to pick out the details until now.

No worries :D

Thanks again for all those comments I've been trying to repay them back when you post stuff, and I now post comments on almost every single art I see by these artists.

Personally I think the render is just barely tipping over the I'm Satisfied Meter but I really enjoyed making it and I was really excited to post it, This image is a pretty small fraction of the 3D modeling community and there are some who model in software other than blender.

Also I've started working on my very own pony model and I'm making an 3D printable OC for someone, I stream everyday (I streamed 8 hours today :P ) If you wonna see you can find me at: www.picarto.tv/live/channel.ph… (I think I'll start up again in a few minutes)

Well, shucks, thankyou so much for using my models and liking my work! You know, I should probably go back into Photoshop. I haven't made a large composition in a while and I might be getting rusty. Animating is fun, but that 2D plane seems lonely.

On another note I read everything, and 6500 samples is OUTRAGEOUS. There's a point where more samples wouldn't help much. The max you would need to for still-render imo should go no higher than 1600 (Still quite large). To get rid of fireflies you have lots of options at your disposal with lights and shadows, but the easiest way is to set your Indirect Clamp settings to something like 6 or 7. You can do the same with the Direct clamp, but it's usually by reflected light, so that makes it indirect. I can tell my Twitterbug Tool set must have caused most of the problems since it's basically solid gold, silver, and glass, which might create the most fireflies. They certainly did for me. Just went looking around for more info for you, and I found www.blenderguru.com/articles/7…

Your Welcome ShipsIsLoveShipsIsLife!

I had thought about using clamp and I was surprised that there were still some fireflies in the render even after I turned on Multiple Importance Sampling, and Even after I used caustic blurring, in the end i just decided to go with the render since I didn't wonna wait another 20 hours. And I was really excited to finish this up!
