Urrrgh. I don't know why but my copy of Photoshop CC is just not working right on my laptop. So far, it takes forever to load even though I've not laiden it with a million custom brush-sets and resources like I used to do with previous editions and as far as I know, my laptop's memory specs are well within range to adequately run it. It was working perfectly fine for a time when I first started the trial. I suseqently didn't touch it for a time due to art block but then my mother wanted me to create a simple sign so I fired it up once more only to be met with a program that barely loads and when it does, it either stops responding before opening or crashes repeatedly at the slightest bit of input. It's maddening. I'm tempted to uninstall and try my hand at GIMP for all my image processing needs but since I've been using Photoshop for virtually the entirety of my time on DeviantArt (13 years?! WTF?!), I'm hesitant to jump ship over to a whole new software.
I don't even draw all that much anymore. My personal well of creative juices has virtually run dry due to a combination of art block, stress and underlying mental health issues that I won't get into here. Whilst I still indulge in creative writing from time to time, my passion is not there and I feel burnt out at the best of times. That being said, I'm getting help for my issues so hopefully it's just a temporary lull.
For now, I'd appreciate any advice on switching to GIMP or other free/open-sourced image processing/digital art softwares as I'm about ready to throw my laptop out the window at this point.
