Yoana is concerned with Geralt's latest blueprint. Witcher armour has strange components indeed ;D

I started reading the Witcher book series (which is awesome btw) and got in a bit of a Witcher frenzy. Started playing the game again and now I'm trying it on the highest difficulty...since I've heard that's the best way. It does raise the stakes a bit, but I always used the oils and potions and everything...that's like half the game.

I've never understood why I hear that people think the combat in the Witcher is bad. Really? Are they just...mashing attack? Two different dodges, blocks, parries, I think the combat is a lot of fun, it has a lot of nuance. It's true that Geralt has a bit of wind up on some of his attacks, and travels a bit during some of the animations, but when you start to understand the context that creates the animations, you can use all of those aspects to your advantage. It has a serious sense of satisfaction when you get surrounded by enemies and you flawlessly dodge, roll, and slash your way through an intricate dance and come out unscathed. Makes you feel very...witchery ;D

Anyway, I could go on, but I won't. Read the books! They are Great!

If you think that's weird, there's the Norse legend of Fenrir and how they made the ribbon that bound him.

Absolutely. You can definitely see why the story of Geralt worked really well as a video game considering how episodic and "side quest" focused the books are, while maintaining an over all narrative thrust.

Reading the books also highlights some of the subtle things the game hints at. Like Geralt's title as the "Butcher of Blaviken"...which, I have to say, would make a pretty cool piece of art ;D

If you think this is bad my pathfinder kitsune arcane trickter has a fan whose ingredients included: a wing a demon, almost a ton of cursed stones, paper from sacred scrolls, 13 teeth of different dragons and hair of one of the gods. And what does the fan do? Remooves need for focus check rolls and all spells have no chance to miss. Something my character never had a problem doing. That GM had no idea what he was doing.
At least when I'm GM-ing the house rules make the game fun for all involved even though we managed to derail 3 seperate campagins by one of the players wanting their character to become a demon. At least we had fun.

Sounds like a big fan. I pictured it being like Temari's fan from Naruto ;D

Getting derailed is half the fun of any campaign, though it can be frustrating if you are really story driven

The fan itself was normal sized and only special hing about it was how hard it was to be made.

I make story up as we go since there's no use making elaborate plans if it will get derailed when party reaches lv 8.
Scalable gear is what keeps players interested and the fact that i don't care abour carrying weight.

My favourite campagin plot twist was when the party was on a quest to save some princess from evil king but the princess was a powerful vampire and the king wanted her dead because her army of vampire knights was terrorising his kingdom. The campagin ended with party's tifling marrying the princess and a whole kinngdom turned into vampires.

I agree. Plus, the traversal is very helpful when dealing with multiple opponents. And it's reasonable. Keep moving and make it hard to stay surrounded. Also depends on what you're fighting. Some things, you want to move in with a strike and dodge back.

Personally, I quite liked how you could mod to make the signs VERY effective. A down humanoid enemy is shortly a dead one.

I really liked the two different dodges. Shifting around on the battlefield and striking back at different angles and distances was a layer of strategy that really clicked with me.
