Thank you! :) Doctorwholovesthe80s gave a great summary.  Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos of Crete.  She helped Theseus escape the labyrinth after he slayed the Minotaur.  There are several differing versions - some had Theseus abandoning Ariadne after he was visited by Athena, who ordered him to leave.  Others had Theseus leaving her on Dionysus' orders.  Others had her slain by Artemis.  At any rate, she ran off with Theseus who later abandoned her on the isle of Naxos as she slept.

Ariadne's from the Myth about the Minotaur. She fell in love with the Hero, helped him succeed in his quest, and eloped with him. He dumped her on this small island while she napped.
Luckily the god, Dionysus finds her and they fall in love and get married.
