This time because my little two year old pressed the power button on my PC repeatedly very rapidly and must've shorted out the SSD and the mainboard. And of course, had to happen when we were short of money because we were expecting our second kid at any time.

But anyway, I was finally able to afford to get the new parts I needed, and now my largely new PC is finally up and running again.

Should be back posting more frequently from now on.

Oh, and the new PC is well out of the kids' reach. Won't make that mistake again.

Over the last few weeks/months I've been dealing with some mental health issues, which, in addition to other things, has basically sapped all of my motivation and enjoyment of my hobbies. A look at my posting history here (or anywhere else for that matter) will show that this is a trend... long periods of little to no interest interspersed with bursts of activity, but this particular period has been the worst by far, to the extent that I will be seeking help. Hopefully I'll be able to get everything under control quickly, but, the nature of the issue means I may still be pretty inactive across all my profiles until I do sort everything out.

So I updated my website, and now it's just a matter of going through to update all the old posts to match the new format. That's going to be a long process... I never realised how much I've actually posted since starting that site.

In other news, I have been pretty goddamn slack with social media stuff... the new Twitter and Facebook accounts I created have been pretty quiet. I guess most of it is because I'm not really much of a public person, and I'm pretty terrible at promoting myself, because no matter how much people tell me, I never quite believe it myself that my work is worth promoting. I'll get there one day I guess...

I have managed to be reasonably active here and on Instagram, so that's a start I guess.

Until next time,

I've spent the last couple of months doing a complete remake of my online presence, as such, there's been the account name change here from Praetor287 to ShannonIWalters, along with a whole heap of new accounts on other platforms. So, here they are:

Facebook: Shannon Ivan Walters
Twitter: ShannonIWalters
Instagram: ShannonIWalters
Flickr: ShannonIWalters
Google+: Shannon Walters

With this change in my online presence I'm planning to be a lot more active on each of these sites from here on, whilst still maintaining a good level of quality to the content I'm posting. By the very nature of the networks, I'll probably be most active on Twitter and Instagram, with more of my best stuff reserved for here, Facebook, my site and Flickr. Instagram will mostly be for snapshots from my phone (which does have a 20.7MP 1/2.3" sensor, so they're not too bad in terms of IQ, especially in good light), whilst most of my film and DSLR work will be on my site, with the highlights posted here and Flickr.

As a browse through my gallery will show, I went through a phase there where I pretty much used nothing but film. Digital shots were reserved for shooting things that just weren't practical to do on film. All of that changed when I moved to a small country town 1000km from the nearest lab capable of processing slide film. The convenience of digital won me over. I have all the equipment I need to develop my own film, I just don't have the chemicals at the moment, and I have no experience with developing colour films, so I've been putting off getting them. However, since I just acquired a whole heap of old film cameras (including a Ricoh 35 ZF viewfinder camera and a Polaroid Autofocus 660 Land Camera), and since I've been wanting to try my hand at using my M42 lenses on my film EOS-3, I guess it's about time to put in an order for some more film, as well as make arrangements to get the film I have lying around developed. Mail order will have to do for now I guess.

It's also been an awfully long time since I made any chainmaille. A lot of my equipment hasn't been unpacked from the move, and some of it is still in storage 800km away at a relatives house. That's not really a good excuse though, since I have 14.9kg of 0.9mm 316L stainless wire sitting right next to my foot at the moment, and I've got at least some mandrels and pliers. I guess I need to stop procrastinating and actually start winding some coils again..

I guess the main bullet point of this presentation is that I'm planning to do more film photography, and make more chainmaille, except that I now have just over a week to finish a Diploma level course for work, so it might have to wait just a little bit.

Until next time..

So this is a shameless plug for my website, which is where I'll be posting a lot more of my work from now on, reserving my absolute best to be cross posted here on DA as well. I've been tweaking the site for quite some time now, and it's only in the last couple of days that I really think I've got it to where I want it.

Also, I'm now on Twitter at

The remainder need rescanning, so they might take a while.

Now that that's out of the way I'll be getting around to uploading some more new stuff in the coming weeks.

I've put all of my deviations into storage whilst I work through updating descriptions, uploading better copies of the files, and so on. I'll be moving them out of storage as each one is updated, and most of them will be back sooner or later...
