Hibiscus Harlequin Beetle by ShannonIWalters Hibiscus Harlequin Beetle by ShannonIWalters
Whilst staying with my parents over the holidays I found a swarm of hibiscus harlequin bugs (Tectocoris diophthalmus) on an tree in their backyard. Luckily enough for me, there was one that had fallen off the tree, and was walking little circles around a rock a fair distance from the others, so I grabbed the camera, laid out an old blanket, and started shooting. This was pretty much the best shot of the day. Pretty little things, pity they're a pest on hibiscus and cotton plants.
