1: Be Consistent
If you say one thing in one place, then don’t change it without a reason or explanation, make sure that you don’t contradict yourself.
2: Be Original
These days, originality is hard. But don’t just copy someone else’s work and change the names. make it yourself: perhaps you can borrow a few ideas from someone else, but you need to create something that is yours, that works for you.
3: Be Detailed
This does not necessarily mean you need a lot of details: there are things you can leave to the reader’s imagination, but you need to have details, and you need to keep them in mind as you write.
4: Be Prepared To Change Things
Maybe you won’t need to, but be prepared and willing to go back and edit, change things, make major alterations to how things work.
5: Follow Your Own Rules
The world needs to make sense within the boundaries of its own rules.
