Pacific Rim by ShamanMagic Pacific Rim by ShamanMagic
Pacific Rim was such an epic movie my first thought after seeing it was "must draw fan art!" here are the results. I will be at Fan Expo this year with my good friends at Jaded Dragon Studios, table A382.

This print is now available through my shop on etsy. www.etsy.com/listing/166720516…

Just look at it xD

It can't be knocked up with the sword, since the sword is too thin to provide a lot of knockback.

Side Note: The city background is really accurate. How do I know? I live in Hong Kong :D

Elbow Sword Rocket!!!!

The colors, sharp lighting contrasts, poses, and detail to both kaiju and jaeger lands this in a top position on this website.
Thanks for sharing!

I can't really take that much credit for the rocket part, that was my boyfriends suggestion. :P

Thanks so much! I actually hadn't realized it had reached any kind of position, that's really nice to know. :)

Beautiful illustration, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a massive Kaiju / Giant Monster movie fan. Plus, I loved that you used Trespasser / Axe-Head in this, over the more famous villains of "Pacific Rim".

Thank you! I basically picked my favorite jaeger, kaiju and location from the movie. I really liked the design for the Axe-Head and wish there was more of him in the movie.

I appreciate that the movie wasn't another 90 minute long origin story, simply to set up a franchise and appeal to the unimaginative, stupid people in the audience. And threw us right into the thick of the final battle between Mankind and these gigantic Alien Monsters.

However, with such a detailed, rich fantasy world, you do want to explore it more and its history. And despite the extensive prequel comic "Tales From Year Zero", I wouldn't mind seeing more of Axe-Head and the rampage that started it all. Or do what they do in Japanese monster movies all the time, and bring back Axe-Head for no reason other than that they can (Oodako AKA The Giant Devilfish from the 1960's Godzilla films come to mind).

Gypsy Danger is also awesome, and I love the fact that the filmmakers deliberately gave him John Wayne's body movements - right down to that funny looking jog it does, while trying to find hiding Otachi in Hong Kong.

Again, love this picture, and a bigger thanks for the reply!

I tend to agree they did pick the best part of the story for the movie but it really was the end of the story. For the next movie I tend to have the same thinking that a prequel would be best and yes though there was a comic I would too love to see that part of the story on the big screen.

I didn't even know about the John Wayne thing but now that you pointed it out i totally see it!

I am so glad you like the image and no worries about the reply sorry this one took a bit, life gets busy sometimes.
