Description
After many weeks of working on this scratchboard, the elephants are finally done! 😄 It was a labor of love, but it's nice to be finished. The reference I took for this piece came from my first trip to Africa (Tanzania, specifically) in 2016. We came across some elephants playing in the water in Tarangire National Park, and it was such a fun thing to see! I had been meaning to create this piece based on those photos for some time, but naturally, it was a bit intimidating with all that elephant skin and water. It was worth it, though, and I'm very pleased with how it came out!
I named it "Harmony" because it suits one of the definitions of the word: To blissfully co-exist in one's environment with no conflict and unnecessary tension. Not only was that being lived out with the scene itself, but the composition also lends itself to an agreeable quality, where the different elements work together in a pleasing and compatible way. This original is sold, but I will have prints available if you want one (let me know!).
