This year for my VCE art studies, I explored Surrealism in its many forms and the way in which different artists communicated their own critiques on society, our humanness or even their own mind.
Amongst Bosch, Irving Norman and Dorothea Tanning was you.
What can I say, you're a master of your trade, the sombrous yet proud way in which you portray you're scenes are phenomenal. I know some artists who focus on the frailty of the human form to emphasise our social and ideological flaws; but despite the somewhat haunting images of your pieces, your figures really do give a sense of honesty and authenticity. A sense of personal discovery and hope.
Also, the personal link to your artworks is something really special. Your artworks are a gateway into your mind, and while I may never understand the poetic intricacies of your thoughts, the volume and complexity of your dreamscapes speak for themselves. There is a great sense of freedom of expression within your work.
My favourite of your works has to be "Stepping into the Possibility of the Mind" because of the optimistic message I see in it. I feel as if the embracing nudes of the piece and the lion imagery evoke a sense of intimacy between possibility and knowledge. The power and grandeur of your work is magnificent.
Thank you, and continue being amazing
