Vanilia and Peaches squealed as snow plopped onto them from above. The two young mares glared at the sneaky colts who had kicked the tree and sent snow on their heads, and Windel and Tut bolted before they could get an earful.
Luckily, the two sisters were a bit fluffier than other horses in the valley, not being mustangs themselves, and shook it off easily. They snorted as they walked away from the trees and towards their mother, Seraphina, to gripe.
Seraphina listened and chuckled and explained that was just how colts were, and they should get used to it, much to their dismay. The twins shook their heads and continued to graze near their very fluffy mother, snuffling through the snow for remnants of grass.
The herd was quiet and peaceful today beyond the one incident, and foals played or snuggled up to their mothers in the cold. Snow had fallen and stuck, and it was a clear sign that winter was coming in full force soon.
The mountains had received the most snow, and their peaks were

Bindi tried not to grimace and show her pain as she stretched out her left hind slowly. Her breath lingered in the cold air for a moment as she exhaled deeply, working out that sore joint. She had wandered aways from the herd, curious about following a deer. She hadn't been overly worried about getting too far, behind her was Duryea and Yngvarr with Dritan not far. Bindi was easy to see in the snow too with her dark colors, so she had trudged ahead.
She had followed the deer for a ways until it leapt gracefully over a stone wall and bounded off. Bindi had pouted, sad that her game with the deer had ended. She had followed the stone wall until it ended in a small drainage and began following it back. She had just made it a few

Frija and Lalka watched the herd from where they stood beside their grazing mother. They were getting a bit older now, but like other twins, often preferred the company of one another. Still, sometimes they would separate, but Frija often found it easier to be with her sister as her sister could speak for both of them, and Frija herself had no voice.
Their father Koh was moving much easier now, seemingly fully healed. Every now and then he would have a slight limp, but it was rare and usually just because he was getting muscle back from all the rest he had taken. The bright chestnut tobiano stallion remained vigilant watching over his large herd, always on the lookout for danger or threats.
Thankfully, a lot hadn't bothered them while Koh had been injured, but seasons were shifting and young and old bachelors alike prowled like wolves. The two fillies had heard from the mares talking amongst themselves that they had noticed a bachelor stallion hanging out in their general part of the
