Betrayal

Dianella urged her on, not daring to spare a look back at the chaos that had ensued in the herd that she had once wished so badly to call home… But could never be.

It was only when a dark shadow passed over the sky did she look up, spotting the image of a winged doe overhead, eyes settled directly upon her. Was there disappointment in them? Anger? 

While a younger version of herself would have hoped to see pride in the eyes of doe that claimed to hold so much power, the ability to send gods on her own bidding… Dianella did not cower, staring back into the eyes of her enemy. Raven was no different than Sparrow.

Raven's herd, the Himmin Vaettr Herd, find themselves under attack from Sparrow, one of the sons to the Cardinal Herd, and life long enemies. Cardinal wish to see Himmin Vaettr destroyed, as Raven was once a doe of Cardinal, having been abandoned when it was deemed she would die, and for harboring Evonara, a doe that also escaped from Cardinal and presumed dead.

It was only when Sparrow stole a calf from Dianella, the wife to the heir of Cardinal and the niece of Raven, that Dianella agreed to show the Cardinal assassins were Raven's herd hid.

Raven's herd hold their own, though it comes with a sting of betrayal that Raven never thought she'd feel from her own blood.
