Woody Widow by shadowfire-x Woody Widow by shadowfire-x
I've found that these northern black widows are VERY common in the park. This one (of considerable size) was hanging out on the side of a stack of dock sheeting near the park office. It was near a web with hundreds of little baby widows in it.

For those of you out there who love spiders, we leave these alone unless they are indoors, or in a place that would make for easy accidental contact with people.

I wasn't too worried, as I had the camera and a couple inches of open space between it and myself ;D
