This is my sweet baby, Atticus.  He has kind of an interesting story.

Back in July, we had a jogger come into the park office and report a 10-week-old kitten in the woods alongside a road.  I had previously removed a mother cat and her kittens from the park and taken them to the shelter, so I thought, no big deal, I'll do the same with this cat.  I went to the spot where the jogger said the kitten was, and started calling for it.  I immediately heard loud crying, which made it easy to pinpoint where the little guy was.  He would let me get about five feet away from him, but one step closer and he would run off.  I wound up sitting on the forest floor just talking to him for over half an hour, letting him slowly get closer.  Finally, he let me pet him, and he instantly crawled into my lap and started purring.  I wrapped him in a towel, put him in a pet carrier, and took him home.  It was Sunday, so the shelter wasn't open.  I got him some food and water, and set up a makeshift litterbox made from a disposable cake pan, and kept him locked in the bathroom with the intent of taking him to the shelter the next day.  He seemed to be a healthy weight, his teeth looked good, and he wasn't injured.  I did, however, spend a great deal of time picking ticks off of him.

The next day, it was with trepidation that I put him back in the pet carrier and drove out to the shelter.  I wound up sitting in the parking lot for quite some time.  I had been planning on getting a cat - had even called the landlord about the pet deposit - and this little guy was a sweetie.  I finally gave in and decided to keep him to see how things worked out.  He's 6 months old now, and very big for a kitty his age - he's going to be huge!  He's also a massive sweetheart, and it blows my mind that someone dumped him.

IF he turns out to be anything like our cat (A year and a half and a mirror image of this little guy, dead serious!), he'll be the biggest, loviest fat cat ever!
