Wrath of the Flamingo

This is a little drawing that I made during a week at the base. I started it out just making random transitions and let my arm do its thing with the B7 pencil I was using at the time. The end result is this twisted bird, which I found a bit intimidating when the drawing was done, thus came the title.

This took ~5 hours to finish over two days.

Hope you like it!
Sincerely yours,
Jordan

I like the feeling and the transition of shading in this. It looks very experimental.

from Gimmefeedback...

I can't really tell what the focal point is. If you want it to have more "pow" you could try defining/darkening the focal point... though I don't think it's really nessecary. The way it is, it's very thought-provoking. I like it. :D

Hi. from :icongimmefeedback:

I think the eye can be a bit more defined or the lines darker to draw you in. Hope it helps.

To be honest I think the fact that nothing jumps out and that you have to stare in to the picture is the strong point here. I think it's a great piece.

Wow, that's a great compliment! Thank you very much!

No problems - thanks for doing the piece in the first place...amazing

i really like this, you could sharpen the details of the drawing so that it stands out from the background
Shadow-Trooper's avatar
How do you suggest I sharpen it? Blacken the darker areas even more?
Urahara-kisuke-88's avatar
you might, or you can lighten the background
Shadow-Trooper's avatar
Alright, I guess one day I will. Problem is it's framed and I'm too lazy to take it out of its frame.
Urahara-kisuke-88's avatar
damn that lazyness lol

Such an interesting character, I've never seen anything like it. :D What seems to be the main problem is that the background has the same texture as the flamingo-creature. So my first suggestion would be to smudge out some of that rough texture on the background, to make the creature pop out a little. Then, you can start rounding out the shape of that creature, making the shadow between him and the ground a little darker so he really does stand out.

Thanks for the response. I dunno, on one hand you seem to be right. If I smudge the background it will probably make the thing stand out more, but on some little level I like how it seems like it's carved into the background.

Thanks, I'll think about it!

From GimmeFeedback,

To make It seem more powerful you could possibly add something to the background. It's still great how it is now!

Uh... I don't know. You have the good imagination!

Thank you very much!
What do you think I should add to the background? It is a pretty small space after all.

Like I said before, you're amazing at shading with a pencil, good job.

Looks like something I'd come up with. I love it!
