Description
As the spell effect passed, the hall of the Temple of Doom was now filled with dust and ash in suspension.
After having activated and used her magical shield, slowly, Selene Paen’Dhirra, High Sorceress of the Temple of Doom and Voice of the Goddess Negeé, levitated back to the ground, gracefully stepping on it.
While she was exhausted by the previous battle and the use of that last ward, she smiled as she saw, lying prone and barely conscious on the floor of the gallery after being hit by the concussion wave effect, the two drows that had dared to challenge the might of a Goddess.
As many times before, while she still was standing, all her enemies laid defeated at her feet.
“What to do now?” she wondered, speaking to herself. This was so in case these two arrogant intruders who dared to defy her may hear her… but mostly, as she liked to hear herself talk. “It seems like General Dahl’Arak had decided to ruin my plans. Such an impatient woman! Winning the war against the Hebonnor! When she could very well suffer a defeat instead, or just make the war get longer and longer!
And now, I need to clean my temple of intruders, as I have heard the clashes, and you two hadn’t come alone… I wonder how many of my loyal acolytes are now left… it doesn’t matter thought. As I took care of you two, I will take care of them…
But if I’m to clean my temple of intruders, I better begin here… doesn’t that have sense?
The goddess is fickle… for a moment, it seemed like you two may had the victory… but now I guess both of you will quickly become quite over-roasted pieces of barbecue, not delicious but still edible for the orcs”
As she said this, she walked closer to the downed intruders…

All Selene had to do was blast the two while they were down and she would have won. Although capturing the two alive would have some political benefit, I suppose? But winning was also all-important. And as she's expended much power, defeating opposing acolytes would be most dangerous. Especially as a crossbow could bring her down. Running from the Temple of Doom might have been her best bet, or gathering what remained of her soldiers and holding out in the inner sanctum? Over time she could have recovered her strength?
But, Selene may have needed to gloat and get some answers?
