More of the Five Kingdoms:
Previously, on Reevan the Jester:
"Hoo-Mans! Hoo-Womans! Hoo-rillas! Come to the Circus! Come and see the wonders of Aiers!" called a voice in broken Hunclech, accompanied by music.
Curious, the townspeople gathered to see, as marching down the main street, dancing, juggling, playing music and singing, passed groups of entertainers.
"What's going on?" one of the burghers, the stonemason, asked to the wife of the baker.
"The Circus!" she said, trying to gaze over the heads of the townspeople.
"Hey, is that a dark elf?" asked excited a child to her grandmother. He had never seen before such elves!
"No no. They said that already. Grey orc, they said." a farmer visiting town for the market day said. "An Ozcura!"
"Come see the Circus of the Brothers Andlielle!" the Ozcurilla chanted, while by her side, a Loranor cat girl pranced around and a goblin danced with energy. "Magic! Freaks! Monsters! Musicians! Dancers! Acrobats! Jugglers! Come and see!"
"Andlielle... that sounds elfic, right?" a man pondered, eating an apple, as the entertainers continued their march to the townssquare. The Baker's wife nodded, and turned to Ms. Beidolle the governess, one of the handful elves of the town. "You know them, right?"
"As I have said before Miss Bourgine, not all elves know each other. They are probably some Doroz. Respectable elves don't participate in such mundane things as entertainment!" Beidolle said, but she knew it was false. She had plenty of cousins that did so.
"I noticed a rare sighting of a Loranor!" a man said interested. "And where these trained goblins and a dancing orc? Where do they get that?"
"Roccasone" other said with certainity born from nowhere. "I have heard, they sell all sort of monsters there, they capture in the demon lands of Polforia!"
"I don't know you guys, but I would go! Probably be the most interesting circus ever to grace Aiers!" other of the townsfolk said.
A mercenary who had fought in the northern marches against grey orcs cackled a laughter. "Knowing the Ozcura when they say circus they actually mean live sex show This could get really controversial really, really fast."
"Hell, I'd still go."
The monk standing behind the blaspheme coughed gently to remind them to be careful with language."It's not an orcish establishment, mind you my son" the Monk added, but thining to himself that probably with some well placed coins, many of the entertainers of the circus could provide other sorts of entertainment, aside of juggling. "But you are right. I should as well go, to see it isn't an immoral show" the monk said.
By his side, one of the vagrants good-for-nothing of the town, clearly a half-blood of a Kanov spitted to the floor. "Demonic spies and agents, that's it what they are these non-humans! Spies or worse, I tell you!"
Edit: added the story! But was nice to see the comments and ideas
An Ozcurilla announcing the arrival of the Circus to the city, in the Northern Marches of Huncle.
In the Five Kingdoms of the Northwest, heavily human societies, often non-human population was marginalized, as the elves living in the elven quarters or the elferie, while others -as many races of orcs and goblins- where seen as monsters rather than people, and where chased away from the cities.
Often, not only was limited where non-humans could live, but what economic activities they could do.
But one of these windows provided to non-humans, was entertainment. Often, the humans, curious to see the different
as a show. But often, the resentment and hate remained not deep back, and often in time of crisis, non-humans where blamed for the troubles to be had.Next on Reevan the Jester:
