On my website I'm doing a series where I'm destashing my huge collection of scrap fabrics. ^-^ With every scrap I use up I make up a new little project for it, then give away the project pattern for free! I've amassed over seventy on my website so far, but I thought I would submit it here as well.

This project is something I had been brewing in my head for quite some time :) It's a play on the fact that, in Japanese, koi means both "love" and "carp." That's combined with the beautiful Tui & La yin-yang carp from Avatar: The Last Airbender. So together it's a pair of carp that form a yin-yang shape together, and their matching markings form a heart.

This is a .pdf pattern where the first half is written instructions, and the second half is a printable pattern.

Enjoy!

Why do you have to use seam allowance in most patterns? I know its important but ive never known the full reason

Unfortunately with the nature of fabric, you can't attach pieces right from edge to edge :) Fabric tends to fray and stretch, so it's best to attach it a little bit in from the edge where the join is stronger. That little bit of extra is your seam allowance.
Most patterns have you keep a consistent seam allowance to ensure that your fabric pieces join in just the right spots and you get the proper finished dimensions.
I hope that answers your question!

Do we have to add any seam allowance in this one? (sorry, I had just start working on handicrafts)

You do not :D It's 1/4" already included :)
On the paper pattern, the dotted line is the sewing line, and the solid line is the cutting line ♥
I hope that helps!

Oh, these are so lovely!  Are we allowed to sell what we make?  I always need money for more supplies and can't afford to give everything I make away.  Really beautiful pattern.

Thank you so much! You are definitely welcome to sell items you've made with my patterns :) A credit to me would be appreciated, but isn't absolutely necessary.
