I’ve had the idea to do a dragon scarf for maybe a year by now, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to tackle the head and also what dragon to do? I was torn between Haku from Spirited Away and Shenron from Dragon Ball. Well, I decided to just jump in and do it already. Obviously you can see who won out in the dragon decision I had to keep my Ghibli project collection going of course!
I made this cutie from fleece so it’s extra warm and soft. The body is just made from several long strips going down the width of the fabric. The little stuffed head is added to the end to finish off the dragon. It was tricky for me because I wanted to keep the head shape simple and cute but also 3D, so hopefully it doesn’t present any problems for you all. You could of course swap out colors and features to make lots of other dragon characters too!

The project has a good bit of hand sewing and placing small, detailed pieces. Plus the body of the scarf is super long so that takes some time to sew as well. With all that in mind I gave it a 4/10 stars in difficulty I hope you all like it and it keeps you warm this winter!

This is a .pdf pattern where the first half is written instructions, and the second half is a printable pattern.

Enjoy!

p.s. You're welcome to sell items you've made from this pattern! Crediting me with a link is much appreciated, but not necessary :)

curious, do we have to use the bonding paper for the face or can we just attach with needle and thread?

The fusible web is just a helpful tool to hold the face pieces in place securely because they're so small :) But if you can manage to do it with just pinning or holding the pieces with your hands, that's definitely an option!

This is a great idea! I've thought of making dragon necklaces before, but not scarves. It's super cute, I may try making one of my noodle babs :)
