Drawing II- Citrus WIP by setsuna22 Drawing II- Citrus WIP by setsuna22
This is a Work In Progress for my Drawing II class.

We have to make nine 8 inch by 8 inch squares and either make one large, grided drawing, OR make each grid a separate image. Im doing something of a mix of the two, as I have 5 separate images over 9 squares.

I wanted to do a chameleon at first, BUT after thinking about it, I realized that the scales would be a lot of work and be a major headache. I had a hard time finding images as well, so i decided to use images I have taken and remembered my citrus stock. [link] :3 I never used the very up close images in the project I took them for, so i am using them in this project now.

Pictured is the close up of the blood orange, lemon, orange, and lime. I have not started on the grapefruit yet. O:

I'm not really sure how I am going to have them arranged yet...

Anyway, this is hard pastel on pastel paper. Specifically, I am using about 95% Carbothello pastel pencils and 5% Nupastel for the areas with large blocks of solid color. (mostly the white) I do not know what type of paper it is specifically as I bought it a long time ago for another class in which we never used it. Alls I know is that it is practically sand paper. Again, each square is 8" x 8"

These look amazing so far! I knew I had guessed right that you used your citrus stock photos that you uploaded a while back to help create these. I bet you weren't expecting yourself to end up using them for this assignment. ;P You've done an amazing job with the pastels! I almost thought they were done by colored pencils instead. The blending of the colors from the darker areas to the lighter tip of the fruit, down to the white 'veins,' are exceptionally well done!

Now I'm craving for fruit.... :|

I love the colours the whole thing is amazing.
just a suggestion they look slightly flat, do you plan on adding light/shine spots? I just see citrus as a little more wet.
I can't wait to see it when it's done :D keep up the great work.

This is quite lovely. A wonderful departure from the usual depictions of fruits and flowers. Nice composition. Good colour sense. Good technique. Well done!

You have the awe and admiration of a microbiology major struggling through a basic drawing class (to satisfy core requirements). :D

Omg, very very awesome. Hmmm, for some reason I'd suggest switching the top right and bottom right, as well as switching the top left and bottom left. I don't know why, sorry for such a confusing suggestion :XD: anyway, om nom nom, this is beautiful :)

Oh they aren't in any particular order! O; Also, there are 5 more pieces, so this isn't the final configuration. I was just showing the progress :p

Have you considered putting those designs as insect wings. It would put a whole new meaning to the word fruit fly.
