Typing at Night: pencil sketch

The laptop is a very old NEC Versa Series E, which I keep around as a throwaway PC / portable memo pad.

I love the keyboard: having a trackball under the spacebar makes SO much sense, because your hands never leave "home row" when you use the trackball. Thus, a touch-typist never slows down while typing and mousing.

This is one of a series of pencil sketches I did to study the properties of a laptop screen as the sole source of illumination. It's particularly interesting because unlike a candle or bulb, the light comes from a large planar object nearby. So, finding how much each object is illuminated is not as simple as tracing light-rays away from a point-source.
