Watercolors, Colored pencil, black ballpoint pen, #2 pencil, Photoshop 7.

The butterfly species is "Bellargus"; the dragonfly's coloring and form are also true-to-life, excepting the liberty I took in changing the vein-pattern in its wings.

The tricky perspective in the paper "sketch-within-a-sketch" was particularly fun to work on.

Beautifully detailed and colored. I love the concept and design. Excellent dimension and fine movement. The depth is truly amazing. Great looking dragonfly.

P.S. Love the bladerunner quote. That's from the android, as he senses his impending death from age, and releases a captive bird into the rain, yes?

Thanks. Yes, that's correct. My favorite scene in the film. It was always moves me.

Thanks deeply for the compliment. The things you like about this piece are the thing I like about it best, too.

I admit, this piece is a big joke at the whole concept of portraying depth through pencil-marks on a 2D surface. The potential for silly perspective is almost endless. :)

I'm currently working on a similar piece that'll show chesspieces in trick-perspective.

Thank you richly for the compliment.
Really-- you like the expressions on the fish? They were strongly limited by the structure of the tessellation.

Later, I'll upload a tessellation of fish in which I was able to take much greater liberties with the fish's expressions & body proportions.
